Walking distance to beach, restaurants, shops! The Parrot Nest is one of the Old-Sanibel cottages located on the quiet East End of the island. Since 1955, our charming cottages have been welcoming visitors and until the early 1960's they were brought to our shores from the mainland by ferryboat. Our cottages are newly renovated in a coastal decor offering you epic comfort, relaxation in a beautiful room. We are within walking distance to the historic Sanibel Lighthouse and fishing pier, beautiful shelling beaches, shopping and restaurants. If you like, use our complimentary bikes and explore miles of paths covering the island and leading to wildlife refuges, kayaking spots, secluded beaches, and meandering past more eateries, shops, and galleries. So peaceful and quiet, and an easy drive to anywhere on the island. Had a great time hiking, kayaking, and visiting art galleries. A friend told me to visit the Sanibel Library, and I'm glad I did. Lots of interesting art on the walls, plus plenty of seashell collections. It is the coolest library I've ever seen! I enjoyed many restaurants here, and these were my favorites: Over Easy Cafe, Mudbugs, Gramma Dots and Blue Rendezvous. If you enjoy wildlife, check out the "Ding" Darling Wildlife Refuge which is a National Park. Seniors age 62 can buy the Lifetime Senior Pass for 80 which works for ALL National Parks in the United States! My accommodations were spotless, very clean and organized. All communications were thorough. The best compliment of all: I'd stay here again! Check out the tallest tree near the cottages and notice the osprey nest at the very top. Situated in close walking distance to Lighthouse Beach, small shops and places to eat. I much rather prefer little places like this, that have all the basics of a low key but enjoyable area. The young couple managing the place could not have been more helpful. They went out of their way to help me when I needed it. The bikes need maintenance - rusty chains, wobbly handle bars, breaks that freeze up. You could use some more kitchen tools. I was glad to have the kitchen as parking at the beaches cost so much money! Thank you, great stay. Grey ##### Grey B. Easy walk to beach. Nice supply of beach stuff. Kitchen was adequately equipped with dishes but very little cookware. Some cooking utensils and bakeware would be a great addition, along with additional pots. Couldn’t take advantage of the stove. ##### Martha P. Great communication and cute little place in a great spot. We loved Wikies and all shops just a three minute walk away, as well as how quiet the area was. Lighthouse beach was easy, especially with the bikes. Buy/bring bug spray for calm wind days but overall it was wonderful. ##### Kayte P.
