We have stayed on Sanibel and Captiva many times over the years and we pretty much have a formula for kayaking, bicycling, meals, etc. This is the first time that we have stayed at The Moorings and we will be back. The Island, in general is old and dated. But, it's also quiet and predictable (perfect for a quiet and relaxing get away from home. The Moorings is in a perfect location for us. Runs (or walks) on the beach, walk or bike to breakfast, and easy to reach dinners. The front desk (Rose) could not have been more responsive. If we needed something, they were very attentive and responsive. CoVid has thrown a little bit of a 'glitch' into the spontaneity of life down there, but we are vaccinated and it was good seeing that The Moorings is taking the virus seriously so that everyone can stay safe. Our unit was on the bottom, no stairs, which was great. It was very clean, nice decorated and had most of what we needed to have a stress free time. the only negative was the beds in this unit are terrible. Nice clean linens can not make up for the fact that the beds we old and sunk in the sleeping areas and lumpy all over.
