Located 8.5 miles north of San Pedro town you'll enjoy that private island feel but have easy access to nearby restaurants, bars and grocery. This well appointed home is made up of beautiful décor to include custom artwork by Belizean artist Leo Vasquez and custom made Belizean hardwood furniture designed and built by Fernando Polanco. Rental includes use of our complimentary kayaks, SUP's, snorkeling and fishing gear. Life jackets are also available. Enjoy a stress free vacation as your stay will include a personal on-site chef for any and all meals that you choose to have on property as well as a 24-hour on site caretaker, groundskeeper and daily housekeeping. ALL OF THESE SERVICES ARE INCLUDED in our daily rates for parties up to four. Our on-site chef is available to prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner if you choose to dine in. Groceries for these meals ARE PROVIDED and purchased prior to your arrival, AND AGAIN ARE INCLUDED IN OUR DAILY RATE. See additional fee for these services for each guest (over 4) for food cost and preparation. In additional to breakfast, lunch, and dinner we provide filtered water, coffee, tea, milk, fresh squeezed juices, and fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables. Alcohol, mixers, soft drinks and any other particular snacks that you may need are not included in the daily rates and can be purchased at one of the many grocery stores on the island after arrival. INCLUDED in daily rate for up to 4 guests: Breakfast, lunch, dinner prepared by on-site chef. Stocked kitchen to include groceries for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Filtered water, coffee, tea, milk, fresh squeezed juices. Assorted (seasonal) local fruits and veggies. NOT INCLUDED in daily rate: Alcohol Mixers Soft drinks Particular snacks such as cookies, chips, etc. (These can be purchased after arrival) Our chef's kitchen comes stocked with a full pantry and fridge for meals customized to your liking. Again this IS INCLUDED in your daily rate and shopped for prior to your arrival. Our spacious and open floorplan is designed for comfort. Lounge in the den area on our oversized sofa and enjoy your chef prepared meals around our large dining table or sitting around the bar on custom made Belizean hardwood barstools. The home is equipped with mini split air conditioning in each room as well as Wi-Fi and Smart TVs. Three of the four bedrooms include en-suite bathrooms which allow the guests more privacy and convenience. Wall mounted smart TVs and Mini-split AC units are included in each bedroom as well as custom closet space. Two of the bedrooms offer a queen bed each as well as en-suite bathrooms with shower/tub combos. The largest bedroom offers a king bed with an en-suite bathroom (large walk-in shower) and French doors leading out to the screened in portion of the veranda overlooking the pool and beach. The fourth bedroom (with bathroom across the hall) offers two twin over full bunk beds. Outside you can enjoy a large covered veranda with access to our infinity pool as well as a partially screened in area while relaxing on our outdoor furniture. Step out back onto the veranda overlooking our custom made barbeque pit while your fresh catch of fish, lobster, and conch is prepared for you in traditional Belizean/Mayan fashion. Or choose to enjoy this experience around one of our handmade custom picnic tables. When not lounging by the pool with a refreshing cocktail you can enjoy our hammocks that hang over the water just steps off of our white sandy beach. A perfect way to soak up that Caribbean sunshine. Our private pier is the perfect setting to watch the beautiful sunrises over the Caribbean on our handmade swing or sip your cocktails on our custom made bar top and barstools under the thatched roof palapa. If you'd prefer a little more adventure we have complimentary standup paddle boards, kayaks, snorkeling and fishing gear, and lifejackets. You can fish off of our private pier which offers shade under the thatched roof palapa or paddle out to the reef and snorkel for a view of beautiful corals and sea life, and dive for fresh conch and lobster when in season. If you'd like to venture out we can offer a day of fishing (flat, reef or deep sea) with one of our boat captains who will pick you up from the property. In addition to fishing our knowledgeable boat captains and tour guides can show you around the island for a day of snorkeling, diving, and sightseeing. Adventurous excursions to the mainland like a visit to the Mayan Ruins, ziplining over the jungle canopy or cave-tubing are also available with pick up from our private pier. The services of our boat captain and guides are paid directly to the charter company. For those who dive you can also experience world class diving adventures to one of the many dive locations around the island. Again, all of this is available, for an additional fee, with pick up from the property with one of our knowledgeable boat captains and dive masters. Not yet certified, but would like to be? We can arrange certification here on the property in our private pool with a certified PADI divemaster. In the mood for a relaxing spa day while enjoying the sunshine and beach? We can make that happen. We bring the spa to you with a number of options including massage, manicure, pedicures and facials. Additional fees do apply. Golf Carts are the main mode of transportation on the island and we have 4-seater and 6-seater carts available to rent during your stay. Daily rate are available as well as a discounted weekly rate. A great way to explore this beautiful island paradise. Travel to Belize is easy with many direct flights from the U.S and Canada. Once you arrive in Belize City I recommend a short puddle jumper flight with Tropic Air over the island into San Pedro Airport. This is a 15 minute flight over beautiful turquoise waters giving you a bird's eye view of the many islands and cayes. This is an adventure in itself! I will be happy to make arrangements for your Tropical Air flights upon booking if you would like. Doris and Lilly took great care of us and made awesome breakfasts and dinners every day, Barney and his crew also keep the place in great shape and were always there to help us schlep our bags in from the dock etc... We happened to be there during a cold snap, but 75 degrees still felt great to us Midwesterners. The place is definitely out of the way so make sure you stock up on drinks, snacks etc.. on your way to the house (I recommend the boat ride with Hill) and having golf carts to get around the island is essential. We had 4 couples, the fourth bedroom being changed to bunk beds was a bit of a struggle but we made it work. Otherwise the layout of the house was perfect. There is currently a seawood issue so swimming on the beach or off the dock at the house is not a great option. However, pack your coolers and take a cruise to either Tranquility Bay or Secret Beach, stop at all of the roadside places along the way. We also drove in to town one day and had a great time and we had Hill take us to Caye Caulker for a day, there seems to be less seawood over there.We are from Missouri and even for us the bugs were on a different level, bring your bug spray and apply it like sunscreen. ##### Ashley A. The house was beautiful, clean, and spacious. The kitchen was well stocked and the amenities were great. From the moment we landed, we were taken care of. Upon reaching the house, there was a full spread of food awaiting us. The fishing and snorkeling excursions were so good. The real highlight of the trip was Doris and her sister, Lily, who did all the cooking. The food was outstanding! Our favorites were the coconut curry lobster, ceviche, and conch fritters. Doris is absolutely irreplaceable. She made sure everything was top notch and special for us. She and Lily even taught me how to cook traditional Belizean dishes. The cooks Doris and Lily were amazing! They made our stay! They cooked anything we asked for-even made baby plates ( Mickey Mouse pancakes) for our toddlers. Golf carts were a big hit to tour around the island and fish while others scuba dive. Unfortunately the sargassum/bugs were present but we were able to kayak beyond out to the reef. The Solmates house exceeded our expectations in every way. The house was clean and well maintained, the property spectacular, and the staff simply amazing. Hosts Pam and Bob stopped by to say hi and ensure we had everything we needed, but gave the house fully to ourselves. The house is very comfortable and the location beautiful but very remote and isolated. Doris, the cook and housekeeper, is very accessible and an excellent cook --- she prepares all the meals. However, we did take the golf cart (extra weekly expense) to the pizza bar about 15 minutes away for lunch one day. Because you cannot swim off the beach (too shallow) you must arrange excursions by boat and pick up is at your private dock for snorkeling and diving. The excursions are costly (think several thousand dollars if you like to dive and snorkel).We were a three generation family of 6 including seniors in their 80's. We enjoyed our vacation but getting to San Pedro was arduous and costly for our family.I would highly recommend the property for a 50th birthday or wedding but not for a young family or older couples. ##### Sonya R. We opted for a boat transfer with a store stop on the way, and upon arrival, staff greeted us with fresh drinks and appetizers. Doris even decorated the rooms for Valentine’s Day, adding a special touch!The property is impeccably maintained, and the staff reflects the owners’ dedication. They gave us a tour, including their workspace, which we found fascinating (especially as Midwest folks!).Doris, the chef, was exceptional—accommodating and creative, mixing Belizean cuisine into our meals. She was always prompt, shared local knowledge, and enhanced the experience.We loved using the new golf carts to explore and visit Benito’s, the nearby grocery store. Some of us went inland to explore ruins, see howler monkeys, and enjoy cave tubing—all planned seamlessly from the beach with an excellent guide.A highlight was leaving directly from the pier for snorkeling, including swimming with nurse sharks—unforgettable! Having the entire property to ourselves was peaceful, with only a few beach walkers seen in 8 days.The only con was bugs/sand flies at dusk, likely due to the neighboring property not being cleared, but it’s the tropics.I’d absolutely book again—it truly is paradise.
