Actun Tunichil Muknal, also known locally as ATM, is a cave near San Ignacio, within less than one hour drive from the villas. This cave is notable for the Mayan archaeological site that includes skeletal remains, ceramics, and stoneware. Also Tikal, the iconic Mayan Temple in Guatemala is only a 45 minute drive from villas. It is set up to be separate but the whole group can be together easily. Each couple gets their own space and bathroom with a smaller common area in each of the two units. We spent most of our time on site at one of the pools, which are great spots to unwind. There is a caretaker on site that is available at all times. We didn’t have any issues, but it was great to know he was there. The kitchens are small, no ovens, so preparing in house meals not much of an option. But the cost to eat at some great local restaurants is very inexpensive, and close by. Rent an ATV or jeep if you want to explore. The back roads are pretty rough. The hike up to Xunantinich is well worth it! ##### Bill G.
