Parking was easy and so was our check in process. We went into one room and the shower door was broken so the very helpful front desk lady let us switch to a new room. It wasn’t the best hotel I’ve stayed at, but from here we visited Seceda, Vallunga, and Ortisei. It wasn’t dirty, just a little dingy and could maybe use a remodel. The lights weren’t too strong so it was just a little dark most of the time. We were able to walk to a restaurant to get some good dinner. The hotel had a restaurant too but didn’t open until later. The hotel also has a free breakfast that was a nice start to the day. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay at the Hotel Piaz. We were there for 8 nights, so we had plenty of time to evaluate the property. The location was very convenient to all the main passes of the Dolomites. Since we were there in the shoulder season, there were few restaurants open, so we had dinner at the restaurant at the hotel three nights, and their continental breakfast every morning. The food was excellent, as was our service from Aurora, the head server, who always had a smile on her face and bent over backwards to make sure we had everything we needed. If there was one negative, this is an older building, so the walls are quite thin, so anyone in an adjacent room who spoke or played the tv loudly was a nuisance. But the staff were all great people and made our stay as comfortable as possible. We enjoyed our stay overall it was during the busy season and prices were higher everywhere else so did take that into consideration. We were in a room with a balcony which was nice but it was august and hit with no air conditioning. We are from the US so hotels without AC are an anomaly for us and it was hot but everywhere else is hot too. We had the window open and the balcony door open but there was a lot of traffic and it was pretty loud I slept my wife didn’t sleep very well just cause of the traffic but we stayed three nights and it was a good base camp for us. The bus stop was literally right outside the door so that was a plus. We came from Bolzano on the 180 bus and should have gotten off at the albergo rizzi stop but went to the last stop in Pera and had to walk back a little ways.
