They set us up with a few tours including local villages, waterfalls and Mayan ruins. Javier was a wonderful tour guide. His local knowledge of history and culture made the trip an incredible learning experience. Hugo, the owner, was a wonderful host. He was extremely accommodating and easy to communicate with. At 7,000 feet up in the mountains the evenings were chilly (even in July!) so we enjoyed a small fire in the fire grate provided each evening. Plus others in our group, being from La Paz, Mexico, made fires in their rooms each night (each room has a fire place). Even though this was NOT the cold season Hugo responded to our need for more fire wood immediately. Great location, quiet (except for note below) and within walking distance to town plaza/Zocalo. Great place to stay while visiting San Cristobal de las Casas! Far enough away to be on a quiet street but still fairly close to shops, markets and restaurants. Our hosts helped us arrange transport, a tour to ruins and even to translate! We had a great time!
