The apartment was clean, check-in was easy. The only downsides were that the apartment is right next to the busy, and noisy, Highway 5\. This is out of the control of the owners, and you know this if you're renting it. The thing that is in their control is that the kitchen and fridge were pretty bare. It would have been nice to find some milk in the fridge or a little welcome basket of snacks on the island when we arrived. This was the worst place and worst customer service I've ever received. I was mildly concerned about the "pet friendly" bullet point as my daughter and I are both mildly allergic, so I messaged the homeowner asking about it. We've stayed in dozens of rental places, several of which are pet friendly. We received an answer that "We assure you that our housekeeping team maintains cleanliness." This place is disgusting 1\. It smells like an out house and like several cats and wet dogs are present. 2\. There's no AC. There's a thermostat on the wall, but it doesn't do anything. 3\. There's a loud fan in one of the rooms that attempts to mask the smell/heat, but it doesn't help with either issue. 4\. The parking is bad. The address takes you to the wrong place. You have to park on the next block behind the house. There was a white windowless van and a blue pickup parked in the space dedicated to us. 5\. It's a scary neighborhood. It's an old, beaten down, sketchy area. Guys smoking weed were standing and watching us walk past on the path to go up the stairs to the entrance. We ended up staying in a hotel up the road that was similar in price and way cleaner and safer. Please don't stay here. You will regret it. ##### Adam C. Nice, spacious, clean, easy check-in and we got an early arrival. Even has a water view of ocean which I don’t think it mentions in the listing. Feb 13, 2022 #### Tiny but cute This place is great for a small family. It's tiny, but has everything you'll need for a vacation, especially if you spend most of your days outdoors. It's an easy walk to San Clemente State Beach, which is just across the highway. The beach is beautiful and quiet. There's a grocery store 5 minutes away and quaint little downtown San Clemente is just a short 5-10 minutes, as well. This unit is on the upper level of another house, so you have a view of the ocean in the distance. It is right next to the freeway, but we didn't notice a lot of noise and didn't have any trouble sleeping. The neighborhood was quiet, as well. The beds are very comfortable and there was a pack n play available to use for our son. The only minor downside for us was the lack of A/C, which I think is hard to find near the ocean. It did get warm while we were there, so the unit was a little on the warm side during the day.
