Built in 1924-1927 by Marjorie Merriweather Post and designed by Joseph Urban. When she died in 1973 she willed the 17-acre estate to the U.S. Government as a retreat for Presidents and visiting foreign dignitaries. The Mar-A- Lago Club is currently a private club owned by Donald Trump. Trump paid $ 10 million for the estate in 1985.
