The farmhouse "CASALE DEL GELSO" is located in the countryside of Parco dei Castelli Romani, just a 4 kilometers from the center of Ariccia and Genzano di Roma, only 20 minutes by train, you can reach the center of Rome (Campoleone - Roma Termini station). All services are nearby but a car is needed to get around easily. The farmhouse is located 10 minutes from Nemi with its Lake, 15 minutes from Albano and Castel Gandolfo, only 20 minutes from the sea (Tor San Lorenzo). DESCRIPTION The Casale del Gelso enjoys a spectacular view of the Circeo promontory and its islands, the sun terrace and the vast park surrounding the Casale are completed with tables, chairs, deckchairs and numerous relaxation areas with cushions and sofas, barbecue area and wood oven. The Vagaggini’s family owns Casale del Gelso since many years. It is based on the agro Romano and it was built during the early 900’. The main structure runs around the medieval tower, and it is surrounded by a park with plants and olive trees. We started in 2011 the restoration of the main building with great care and love for the style we wanted to keep in. Demolition materials were reused in a creative way : the old roof tiles have become the square in front of the portico, the use of terracotta, wood, green Tuff and the renovated old furniture with shabby chic style have given a special warm and harmonious atmosphere all around the Casale. Rural elements can be found in the large arch, in the barn and in the oven. GENERAL DESCRIPTION of ALL ROOMS Internally the Casale has 4 comfortable and elegant bedrooms each with a private bathroom with shower, with the possibility of an extra bed and to accommodate families. All rooms have cool / hot air conditioning, TV, free wi-fi connection. The rooms are non-smoking but it is possible to smoke in the garden. The KITCHEN is equipped with: Smeg hob with 5 burners, Smeg extractor hood, maxi fridge with freezer, 12 serving plates and cutlery, water and wine glasses, pots, pans and other accessories. Patrizia nous a accueilli dans un esprit familial et chaleureux. Sa maison est juste magique : l’horizon infini avec verdure, fleurs&oliviers, et mer au loin est immédiatement ressourçant. Facile accès à Rome Termini en train depuis la gare de Campoleone (parking gratuit à 9min en voiture puis 25 min de train pour environ 3EUR. Parfait pour alterner repos et visites. It would be impossible to overstate the quality, cleanliness, charm and attention to detail the host puts into the house and the guests.Firstly, the house was impeccably clean, each room is an ensuite, the common area is delightful and the kitchen well-equipped. It was perfect for a large family like ours to share with the perfect mix of privacy and communal living within the space. The decor is light and airy and very homey. The outdoor spaces are fantastic. Clearly avid gardeners, the back garden is like a series of inviting little rooms. There are many different seating areas, but the patio immediately off of the back is accessible to the house and we spent several very enjoyable nights eating and drinking and grilling there. The owners made sure the hot tub was ready for us to use and their attention to detail and to our comfort and satisfaction was truly amazing. What a perfect Italian country retreat. The immediate property is surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. The views are spectacular.A few notes: definitely make sure you have cars for everyone because it is not really walkable. Even the train into Rome is far enough away that one needs to drive to it. The nearby towns are very charming and Lake Nemi is very pretty.I recommend Casale del Gelso wholeheartedly and would give it six stars if I could. ##### Ann Lia R. The location is great for a daytrip to Rome or a little trip, e.g. to Nemi or the beach. Patricia and her family are wonderful and helpful hosts. My family and I stayed at Il Casale del Gelso for the second leg of our Italian vacation. This farmhouse was truly a retreat, where it was easy to relax and enjoy the beautiful grounds. The kids loved swinging on the tree swing and playing games over the expansive fields. Patrizia and her family was absolutely lovely, very accommodating to any need or question we had, and always available. We communicated frequently via text and she was always responsive, proving great recommendations for local restaurants, grocery stores, etc. We enjoyed our stay, and would absolutely recommend this property for a relaxing stay! All bedrooms and living space are on the first level, the living spaces upstairs are where Patrizia and her family reside-it was so nice to know they were there if anything was needed. ##### Teresa G. Patricia war ausgesprochen gastfreundlich, von der Begrüßung bis zur Verabschiedung, immer parat, wenn man Fragen hatte mit guten Tipps zur Umgebung. Wir sind 2 Tage zum Sightseeing in Rom gewesen (mit dem Zug, die Verbindung ist super) und waren jeden Abend froh in diese Oase mit dem riesigen Garten zurückkehren zu können. Die Kinder konnten Fußball spielen, der Hund war glücklich (sein Reich ;)), wir konnten grillen, das Jacuzzi verwenden und einfach die herrliche Gegend und die Ruhe genießen. The house with the large park with olive trees and fruit trees is full of peace and silence, it is perfect for relaxing after visiting Rome (Rome is only 25 minutes away by train!). The sea view is fantastic. The interiors are really clean and lovingly decorated, there is a large kitchen equipped with all comforts and a large fridge. Every room has its own bathroom! It's really comfortable !. The jacuzzi is wonderful, magical bathing during the sunset! Patrizia and Marco are perfect masters of your home, communicating with them is very easy, they are always available but leave you all the privacy you want.
