Publie sur Vanity Fair (photos de Ramona Balaban, https://ramonabalaban.com/). Cet appartement du rez-de-chaussée a été rénové en 2008; il dispose d'un grand salon / séjour d'entrée, grande cuisine avec accès direct au jardin, deux chambres, deux salles de bain, couloir et espace supplémentaire mezzanine / stockage. Le jardin mesure 90 M2. Il est entouré d'autres jardins et se trouve au pied de la Villa Balestra, rocher peint par Raphael. Sur l''avenue delle Belle Arti se trouve le Musée Etrusque le plus important au monde, dans la magnifique Villa du Papae Jules II. Le Musée d'Art moderne est un peu plus loin et tous les batiments se trouvant sur cette avenue sont des Académies de nombreux pays: Japon, Autriche etc.. L'appartement est idéalement situé à environ 500 mètres ( 5 minutes) de la Piazza del Popolo dans le quartier Parioli. Espace parking toujours disponible dans la même rue, pas d'autres maisons / appartements dans les environs. 25 eur pour chaque personne supplémentaire Nous offrons aussi Venise et la France! Entre l'élégant Pincio, et les rives du Tibre, Piazza del Popolo forme une énorme ellipse. Églises, fontaines, monuments, de la Rome antique et moderne embellissent la place. Depuis l'antiquité, l'entrée Nord de la ville a formé un vestibule dans la ville par la porte dans le mur d'Aurélien. Bien que maintenant connu sous le nom de Porta del Popolo, il a eu plusieurs noms au cours des siècles. Initialement appelé Porta Flaminia par l'empereur Aurélien qui a commandé sa construction, au cours de la période médiévale précoce, il a été appelé Porta San Valentino, après la catacombe plus proche. Enfin, le nom de Porta del Popolo a été convenu, comme l'église attenante à la porte est de Santa Maria del Popolo. Piazza del Popolo même était connue comme la Piazza del Trullo au Moyen Age, d'après la fontaine conique qui se trouvait dans le centre de la place, qui rappelle d'une habitation Sud-italien caractéristique. Son nom actuel est peut-être en raison de peuplier, connu en latin 'populus' qui signifiait aussi les gens, une association apt, comme divers événements publics tels que les foires, les jeux et les exécutions spectaculaires y étaient détenues. Pendant des siècles, la Piazza del Popolo avait une fontaine publique, un abreuvoir et une citerne pour les lavandières. Ce fut Sixte V, en 1589, qui tourna son attention à la place. La fontaine Trullo, sous la supervision et l'exécution de Domenico Fontana, devait être remplacé par l'obélisque égyptien de Ramsès II, deuxième dans l'âge et la hauteur que pour celui de San Giovanni, à l'origine apporté à la ville par l'empereur Auguste, et mis dans Circus Maximus. Son transport et installation sur la Piazza del Popolo donné la place un air plus majestueux, moins domestique. Quatre lions de bassins d'eau, ont été ajoutés à l'obélisque en 1823, sous le règne du pape Léon XII. Le prochain événement fut l'arrivée de la reine Christine de Suède. Désireux de se convertir au catholicisme, elle est arrivée à Rome en 1655, à un accueil splendide: en venant du Nord, sa première vision fut la Porta del Popolo. Bernini avait été chargé de restaurer la façade intérieure de la porte ancienne en préparation pour son arrivée. Une plaque a été placée au-dessus de l'arc, à la lecture: 'FELICI FAUSTOQUE INGRESSUI MDCLV' (Pour une entrée Heureux et Propice) qui reste à ce jour. Son entrée était si 'heureuse' qu'elle ne quittera plus Rome. Vers la fin des dix-sept centaines, au milieu de l'invasion napoléonienne, le flot toujours croissant de visiteurs et de pèlerins, qui descend sur Rome par la Porta del Popolo, motivé la décision de moderniser la place. Jusqu'à ce qu'au XVIIIe s, la place a une forme trapézoïdale qui ont convergé vers la porte. Au cours de l'époque napoléonienne, le préfet français, Tournon, était à la tête de la «Commission des embellissements' à Rome. Il a commandé Valadier, un architecte romain, de redessiner la Piazza del Popolo, ce qu'il a fait a un effet surprenant. Les travaux ont débuté en 1816, durés jusqu'en 1824 et la première fois, depuis l'occupation française, que les prisonniers n'ont pas été utilisés pour les travaux. Le projet devait prendre en compte des importants bâtiments existants: trois églises, Santa Maria del Popolo, Santa Maria di Montesanto (Sainte-Marie de Montesanto), Santa Maria dei Miracoli (Saint Mary of Miracles), l'obélisque, Porta del Popolo et Via del Corso, qui devait rester intacte. Les structures latérales furent remplacés par des exèdres spacieuses. Ceux-ci ont soutenu les fontaines de Neptune entre deux tritons, et des Roms Déesse de chaque côté, ajoutés en 1823 sous le règne du pape Léon XII. La place devint alors accessible d'un côté à l'autre, ainsi que chaque extrémité. Avec une touche de génie, la place fut relié au parc sur la colline au-dessus par un escalier descendant de la colline du Pincio. Piazza del Popolo fut la dernière contribution du pape à l'architecture légendaire de Rome, et à bien des égards reflète sa splendeur, inspirant un sentiment de crainte chez le visiteur. It was about a 10 minute walk to a very pretty park, museum and the zoo. The place smells a little musty/old and the pictures above the bed in the room we slept in were a little disturbing to us. You feel as if a good friend has allowed you to use their flat. The flat is 10 min north of the Piazza del Popolo. From the description and the other reviews it didn't come out so strongly for me that it is on two busy roads and therefore it is quite noisy, even in the small garden. One street is also a feeder road to a hospital, so you hear an ambulance with a siren every few minutes. The house is also quite noisy and you can hear the neighbours, especially at night. The immediate neighbourhood is also a bit of a transit area, for example there are no cafés and restaurants right in front of the house. The contact with the landlords is very friendly and the maid is very cordial! ##### Claudio K. The kitchen was well-stocked and had everything one would need to make simple meals. Check-in was easy and the instructions were very clear. We had a very enjoyable stay. For planning purposes, guests should know that the apartment is not in the central part of the city and it is difficult to find a taxi. Rome is a city of beauty and history and this rental extends the beauty to your living space. The tile work and furnishing are lovely, and the beds comfortable. We are lovers of books and art and our only regrets that we couldn't access the incredible Italian book collection. What a gift to be surrounded by books and art. If there is one other regret is that we couldn't enjoy the cool Mediterranean night breezes because sleeping with the shutters open was a bit noisy. It started even before we arrived. Marc arranged for us to be picked up by Maurizo at the airport, and taken directly to the apartment which was extremely useful. It was much more convenient and much less difficult to get to our Rome “home” in this manner. We were met by the housekeeper Celine who showed us everything that we needed to know and made a few suggestions for getting around the area, she was wonderful. Maurizo also took us back to the airport, again arranged by Marc and very convenient as we were picking up a car at the airport for the next leg of our trip. The apartment itself was fabulous. It was everything that we expected from the listing, it could not have been better. The main bedroom was very comfortable, and our two boys enjoyed the space in the second bedroom. Having the two bathrooms also provides flexibility when 4 people share the apartment. The shower was adequate, and plenty of hot water. Having laundry available was a huge plus. We did not need to pack too much for our extended stay. The time that we stayed there the weather was quite hot, having an air conditioned home to come back to after a full day of sightseeing was a real pleasure! We also felt very secure; the apartment is inside a walled and gated compound, with an additional very secure front door for the apartment. We did not have any concerns about security. The location was also very nice. We were 5 minutes away from bus and tram lines to the Vatican, Piazza del Popolo, and the Colosseum and Forum. Getting around was very easy. I will say that there were not many restaurants right around the apartment, but we weren’t spending the evenings there anyway, we were in other parts of Rome. Overall, we could not have been happier with our stay. We would certainly recommend this apartment to anyone who was looking for a good place to stay in Rome and the hosts are extremely helpful and accommodating. ##### Gregory W. We were with our 2 adult daughters and there was plenty of room for all of us. The apartment is lovely and we especially enjoyed sitting out in the private courtyard and having a glass of wine. There are 2 bathrooms, but only 1 has a full shower (which is very tight). The kitchen had everything we needed. There is even a washing machine. Lisy (the host) is very gracious and helpful. She arranged transportation to and from the airport for us which made things much easier for us.The neighborhood is about a 10 minute walk from Piazza Popolo and quiet. Un appartement, à la décoration raffinée de style Mauresque ; au mur de multiple tableaux où se côtoient de nombreux styles ; un ensemble parfaitement confortable pour un long séjour. Les oiseaux vous réveillent avant que la vie romaine ne le fasse ! Ici, tout est fait pour vous rendre la vie facile : Nous avons choisi le taxi pour nous rendre aux rdv des visites et en revenir, nous gardant toute la journée pour marcher. (moins de 10 € la course, à 4 ce n’est pas cher) Le soir : Apéro sous la tonnelle. Diner à l’italienne (le magasin d’alimentation livre dès 30 € d’achats). Limoncello dans le fauteuil. De bonnes nuits confortables (2 chambres et 2 s de b). Nous avons ainsi passé une semaine à sillonner Rome sous le soleil avec le repos dans un logement luxueux que l’on s’est approprié facilement. C’était extra.
