Quaint and cozy two-bedroom apartment in SW Historic district in a safe and quiet neighborhood. Greenway & Blueway Trails, Downtown Roanoke, Carilion & Memorial Hospitals, VA Tech School of Medicine, restaurants, and entertainment all within one mile. We are pet friendly (2 pets max/30lbs max each pet & one-time per pet fee) but we do a deep clean after each guest, you’d never know that pets have ever been hosted. Detection of any drug use or smoke (including marijuana and vape) in the unit will result in immediate eviction with no refund of fees. The unit is best suited to couples or a family with one child as the second bedroom is small. Primary Bedroom: King bed, two nightstands with lamps, dresser, floor length mirror, ceiling fan, and small closet. In the summer, window AC unit will be provided. Secondary Bedroom/Office: Full size murphy bed, bedside lamp, small desk, small armoire. In the summer, window AC unit will be provided. Kitchen: Everything you need to cook a full meal. Refrigerator, full size stove, microwave, full size dishwasher, Keurig coffee maker, pots, pans, baking sheets, mixing bowls, hand mixer, toaster, casserole dish, storage containers and a large variety of utensils. Plates, cups, and silverware. There is no dining room, however the kitchen has a bar with two stools. Bathroom: Deep Tub/Shower combo, mirror, hair dryer, towels, wash cloths. Living Room: Velvet sofa, armchair, side tables and coffee table, floor lamp, 50" smart TV with streaming services. Back porch: Swing chair and a table overlooking the back yard. Laundry room: Full size washer and dryer. The Home: The unit is in the upstairs of a 125-year-old home in the Historic District of SW Roanoke, VA. Implicit in that, the unit has stairs both to the front door and up to the unit. In the interest of full transparency, we ask that you review the below if you have never stayed in a historic home. \-We ask guests to observe quiet time 10pm-7am, however on rare occasions you may hear the downstairs guests. \-Due to Historic renovation regulations, there are some things that can not be replaced, such as the windows. You may feel a draft from time to time. \-The home has radiator heat (very warm) and window AC units (very cold) but some guests have complained that AC units are loud. \-The home has beautiful hardwood floors that may slant or creak due to age. We assure you the floors have been inspected and are completely solid. \*\*All that being said, we know you will enjoy this charming Roanoke experience in our Victorian home!\*\* Guest access: We will provide check-in and a door code prior to your arrival date. Parking is available on the street in front of the home. When you have parked, make your way to the RIGHT side of the house and up the stairs to the apartment. Guests have access to the apartment, back porch, and back yard. Please be mindful that other tenants may also be in the back yard. If you are traveling with a pet, please ensure you pick up after your pet in the yard and when out and about in Roanoke. PLEASE NOTE: \-This is a historic Victorian home built in 1900 and as such it has old home quicks. The star is now a symbol of the city and a major tourist attraction, contributing to Roanoke's distinctive identity. Please make time to visit the star on your visit! The hosts seemed unconcerned or maybe disbelieving of our issue, although VRBO refunded half of our money after our stay because the hosts declined to. We noticed a very strong floral/chemical smell and felt sick with headaches the first night, so we looked around more and found 7 electric Glade air freshners plugged in throughout the 500 square foot apartment, all on maximum output. ONE Glade plugin is rated to cover 550 square feet! The hosts messaged that they had had a guest with a smelly dog before us and wanted us to have a "fresh stay." My daughter had an asthma attack and we should have left the next day, but instead we tried to air the place out and bought an air purifier, which didn't really work. Only two windows opened, and they didn't have screens so we felt unsafe leaving them open at night. We stayed out of the apartment as much as possible but still felt ill every morning after trying to sleep with the smell and bad air quality. The hosts didn't make any effort to address this issue or air out the apartment, and responded with "We're sorry" as if we were just being dramatic. Seven plugins on full blast in this tiny space with little ventilation really created an unhealthy and toxic air quality for anyone to spend time in, and it worries me that the hosts seemed oblivious to this and refused to acknowledge it as a serious health concern. The space is full of stories. You can just feel the history in the walls! Yet it’s so thoughtfully maintained and beautifully prepared for guests. It was very clean when we arrived, the light really shines through the tall windows and the welcome was truly next level.The host left us a thoughtful gift we’ll definitely use, plus a basket of essentials (like a toothbrush and other items you might forget). It’s such a helpful and generous touch. The bathroom is probably my favorite part — it’s so quaint and full of character, and the tub is surprisingly deep (even my 6’8” husband could enjoy it!). The towels are soft and fluffy, the beds are incredibly comfortable (our kids, ages 3&6, loved the Murphy bed, and the king bed in the next room was perfect for my husband and I), and the furniture is cozy and inviting. The special touches like the changing color lights with a small remote and the “rainbow fire” were the highlights for my 3 year old son! The porch swing is an absolute dream. We have already spent time relaxing there. The kitchen is very functional and quintessential and the washer and dryer are top-notch.
