« This is the first negative review I've ever had to give. We stayed at The Golden Lion Hotel St. Ives. (13-14 Feb) We stayed in Room 20 which was very small and had the constant, very loud noise of the kitchen extractor humming. On the first night it was still on at 10.45pm and we had to ask Reception to deal with it and then it was back on, waking us up at 7pm. Whilst we understand the extractor has to be in use, this has ruined our relaxing break. We could not have a lie in or return to our...

« I’m sorry to say the property was not what I expected ! No hot water so I couldn’t have a shower when I got there at 9pm or one when I had my hospital appointment at 8am. so I wasn’t best pleased. And to top it off the heater in the room is not fit for purpose it was freezing I will go there ever again. I will be requesting a refund as the hotel is not a nice place to stay. But I will say the staff were pleasant but I didn’t go there to talk to the staff. »

« The inn is next to the river ouse in a beautiful area and, by car, is 5 minutes from St. Ives, a very interesting town to visit. To visit Cambridge you can go via various little villages through the countryside avoiding the very crowded A14 - about 40 mins. The room we had was quite small though comfortable with all the usual services. I would recommend asking for a large room on the side away from the kitchen to avoid the noise of the kitchen fan.
