The Space: Come enjoy this little historic nugget close to downtown Red Lodge. This rustic cabin offers a studio style queen bed along with small living room, full bathroom and kitchenette area. During pleasant weather you can enjoy a ten-minute walk downtown from this location. There is only room for one compact car to park here so please note this before booking. This charming cabin has been in the loving care of the same family for 60 + years and that family has worked with Pepsi for most of that time so located within these log walls you'll find antique Pepsi gems that give much character to the space. When the sun is shining sitting outside in two Adirondack chairs is a perfect coffee spot in the morning. This cabin is a worker cabin built in the 1930's for crews that created the Beartooth Highway. If the walls could talk, we would hear some doozies! Even with all this rustic charm, you'll still enjoy Wi-Fi and streaming tv when you choose. Coal Creek Cabin is 6.8 miles from Red Lodge Mountain Please note that this home is not equipped with air conditioning Guest Access: Guest(s) have access to the entire home and all listed amenities. This home does have owner closet that is off limits to guests. The areas that are off limits are locked. The Neighborhood: Red Lodge, nestled in the foothills of the Beartooth Mountains, is a wonderful place to visit if you are looking for family fun, a place to touch the wild, or just a chance to let your hair down. Whether you are wearing Birkenstocks or cowboy boots, you will find something to do here. (Although downtown is paved and we even have sidewalks, Jimmy Choos are probably not a great idea!) In winter the road ends here. Downhill skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, sledding and sleigh riding are just the short list of activities that you can do when visiting us. In summer we revel in the Beartooth Pass opening. We are only 68 miles from Yellowstone Park, but plan on a good two hours\` drive as the “Pass” is stunning in high mountain vistas, rocky cliffs, and jeweled lakes. The Custer National Forest is a haven for wildlife including elk, moose, mountain goats, big horn sheep, bears (black and grizzly), mountain lions and wolves. Golden marmots are often seen dashing across the trails. Golden and bald eagles often visit our area, as well as sandhill cranes and blue herons. Getting Around: Coal Creek Cabin has off street parking for one sub compact vehicle. Red Lodge has a taxi service and Uber for transportation in the area. Red Lodge does not have a commercial airport. Guest(s) can fly to area airports and drive to destination. Area airports and approximate distance to Red Lodge: Logan International Airport (BIL) 60 miles, Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN) 147 miles, Yellowstone Regional Airport (YRA) 64 miles. Other Things to Note: Guest(s) is allowed to have up to two dogs stay at the home during the visit. All dog(s) are required to be current on vaccinations. Guest(s) must clean up after animals and dispose of waste properly. Guest(s) must have a kennel for dogs when in the home and guest is not with the animal. Dogs are not allowed on furniture or beds. A minimum fee of $50.00 will be charged for each pre-approved dog over the two-dog limit. No cats allowed. Unauthorized animals or evidence of an animal on property can result in a minimum fee of $250 and/or your reservation being cancelled without a refund. The home is equipped with: bedding, pillows, towels, pots & pans, dishes, toilet paper & paper towels, garbage bags, dish soap, dishwasher soap, detergent for washer and propane or charcoal for the type of grill provided. No food or spices will be provided due to health regulations. We provide a sample amount of soaps, shampoos, and lotion to get you started. Red Lodge, Montana is a rural community that does offer internet and cell service throughout most geographic areas but, some locations are completely void of any internet or cell service. In town and within a 3-5 mile radius of downtown you will enjoy solid cell signal but during times when our population increases due to events, celebration (such as the Fourth of July), or emergency situations such as a wildfire you will notice that these online and cellular services slow down and sometimes, they can slow down to the point where you have to wait to place a call. We can’t do anything to help in these situations, so we encourage people to enjoy the freedom of being “unplugged” and to be patient. In the listing we were aware of no air conditioning, but typically Red Lodge is cool at night, so we thought “no biggie,” we’ll sleep with the window open in the bedroom, which we did plus had all 5 fans on, but it was still a bit warm. If I could suggest anything it would be to have an extra mirror on the wall, for the second person to help get ready in the mornings. Also, a memory foam on the mattress would be awesome! The bed was a bit hard.., but nothing to complain about. It was a great walk from cabin to downtown for dinner & drinks. The price per night was cheaper than any motel in downtown Red Lodge. Great updates via text/email from the property owners.
