From the rooftop terrace of Casa Perros Afortunados - the House of the Lucky Dogs - you can do both, AND you can also sunbathe with privacy and cool down in the rooftop plunge pool. With its treetop view of the mangrove jungle on one side, and the ocean view on the other, Casa Perros Afortunados offers our guests a beautiful place to say, with all the amenities you might need while on holiday. A 3,000sf private house in the quaint fishing village of Puerto Morelos, Mexico just 20 minutes from the Cancun airport, Casa Perros Afortunados is ready to welcome you. Just a short stroll to the beach, a four-minute walk to restaurants, and steps to the town square where shopping, markets, and all the action happens, the House of the Lucky Dogs is situated perfectly. Puerto Morelos is still a colorful and traditional village with neighborhood roosters, local street produce stalls, and fishermen selling their fresh catch. It is a wonderful place where locals and visitors mingle effortlessly. You can visit the Frutaria (fruits and veggies) across the way, and the Carniceria (meat shop) down the road, along with your neighbours, or there's always the big grocery store by the square. You can share the lively nights of music at the restaurants nearby where the main street is closed to traffic at night, and chairs and tables line the road. Everyone enjoys their meals with fairy lights overhead and both traditional music and songs of the 70's-2000s playing. You can experience it all and still have a wonderful place of your own to relax. The house is designed with comfort in mind while still presenting guests with interesting and creative elements. Handmade masks, woven baskets, bright colours, and well-placed wall hangings mean that Casa Perros Afortunados will delight everyone who enters. The functionality of the house has been given every attention. The fully equipped kitchen, which includes a five-burner gas stove with griddle, is spacious and offers seating at the granite-topped island peninsula. We have a reverse osmosis water filtration system, blender for those icy beverages, microwave for quick warm-ups, coffee maker for your mornings, and every imaginable utensil for when you decide to cook up a little something. You can enjoy a relaxed meal at the island or gather around the dining room table, which seats up to eight. And if you don't want to cook but don't feel like going to a local restaurant, we have two wonderful chef options for you, both of whom are amazing cooks with incredibly reasonable prices. In the sitting room is a comfortable sectional couch, ottoman, and three armchairs, lit by beautifully woven local basket lights. The open concept main floor means that hopping up to refill your beverage doesn’t mean a pause in conversation. The second floor Media Room has a smart TV, and is connected to Expat TV which offers every show, sport, or movie, shown live from the US, Canada, or the UK. We even have a DVD player and movies for you, and comfortable lounge seating, providing a place for relaxed viewing on those quieter nights. And if you really need to work, the room also has a long desk for your use. Wifi is strong and fast! When the day is done, you can find rest in one of the three bedrooms, all of which have high-quality king-sized beds. The second-floor bedrooms are identical master suites that each offer ensuite bathrooms, and large, private balconies. The main floor bedroom has big windows with lots of light, and the full bathroom is adjacent to the room. It is situated off the living room area so provides easy access to all the main floor amenities. All our bedrooms come with white noise makers for light sleepers. When you arrive at Casa Perros Afortunados, you can enter via the secure gate and park your vehicle inside. The gardens surrounding the property are lush and offer a beautiful setting for relaxing with friends and family. A covered patio overlooks the rear garden and includes an outdoor ping pong table for those friendly competitions. The local community loves their dogs and, being a House of Lucky Dogs means we will gladly also welcome your dog family members! We request that they not be over 30lbs though and that they not take any dips in the pool. Puerto Morelos offers an amazing array of activities: dive or snorkel along the coral reef (a protected national park and part of the world's second largest coral reef), sport fishing in the Caribbean, in-home private massages, biking, golfing, beautiful underground cenotes with crystal clear water, or short drives to shopping and nightlife in Cancun or Playa del Carmen. This is a beautiful area that mingles visitors with locals, and the sounds and experiences of real life in Mexico are authentic. We back onto the jungle so you may see harmless and sweet coati families hanging out in the trees, and on top of our laundry room in the back garden where it's sunny and warm for them (no they don't approach you). We often hear a rooster in the morning (we call him Ramon). The house is perfect for a group of 6 and is in a great location. The beach, restaurants and shopping are all short walks. There is a fantastic breakfast place about 100 feet away and a little shop with snacks and drinks right across the street. The furniture is comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked. The dining table is large enough for everyone to dine together or play games, and the rooftop terrace is wonderful with covered seating, a bar and a small pool. The back courtyard is also pleasant and the ping pong table was a lot of fun. This large 3-bedroom home is walking distance to everything. The kitchen is large and well equipped, and there's a private plunge pool on the roof. But the best feature for us was having two huge king master suites since we were there with another adult couple. That's a very rare commodity for vacation rentals. Excellent restaurants and beautiful beaches, all within walking distance. The house has everything you need, including a rooftop pool. This is one of my favorite properties. ##### Nelda B. We have had day visits in the past. The location is ideal for walking around the entire town. The space for the seven adults was also perfect. Loved spending time on the roof top and playing ping pong.. The kitchen provided everything we needed to prepare meals. Lucio responded to all my messages within minutes as well as any requests we had. Russell the owner as well was very helpful with recommendations and was quick to reply even when on Safari!! Two or three short blocks from the beach -- maybe a three-minute walk, tops. Beds are comfortable and AC units cool rooms quickly. Rooftop bar and pool catch a good breeze. We had a minor hiccup with the water shutting off, but Lucio came over quickly and fixed it within an hour. Lots of good restaurants are an easy walk. We rented a car, which we parked off street in the courtyard without incident, and which gave us easy access to restaurants on the colonia side of town, which were also very good and much cheaper. Puerto Morelos is a great place to visit, and the snorkeling in particular was awesome. ##### Matthew B. The house was spacious and comfortable. It was beautifully finished with lots of gorgeous wood trim and whimsical decor. We would start our day with coffee and croissants from the Bellville bakery listening to all the birds on the back patio and end our afternoon having Happy hour and a dip in the pool on our rooftop patio. The location was good too. Quiet but close to good restaurants, the beach, and town square. Thanks Russ l hope we can return again soon!!! ##### Colleen B. The house is beautiful and very comfortable. Lucio the manager was always so very helpful if we needed anything. Russ the property owner was prompt with all correspondence before and during our stay. The air conditioner in our bedroom wasn't working, it was replaced within a few days, very timely. The house is well equipped with everything you need. The grounds were beautiful, the property is beautiful, the neighbors are so friendly, the walk to beach, stores, shops and anything you can imagine is with in walking distance. Russ was super nice from the start, recommending transfer services and car rentals that we never would have found ourselves. The property was super clean and well furnished and the ac pumped COLD - it was perfect after walking the block or two to dinner (literally) and coming back. Amazing location. We spent most of our evenings on the roof but - beware - pack LOTS of bug spray. I should’ve used more and that’s my fault, but there are tons of mosquitoes because - well, you’re right next to the jungle. We enjoyed both Louis’ friendliness and recommendations and his wife who cleaned once while we were there. Seriously the only negatives I can come up with are - mosquitos (which will be everywhere) & there was only one tv in the middle sitting area on the second floor. We watch lots of tv when hungover - but it didn’t matter bc everything was in Spanish anyway. Great place and seemed much larger than in the pics! Will rent again! ##### Courtney W. The property was exactly as pictured but the location was even better! Short walk to the beach with amazing restaurants and lots of activities! We brought our own snorkeling gear and went off the beach and we did a tour of the reef as well (lighthouse tours) which was a short walk to the pier! The house had everything ! Full kitchen, beach towels, a pool and bar on the roof (lovely for morning coffee)! Very quiet area and we had friends who had never visited Mexico and it was a treat! So many people speak English so easy to get around if your not bilingual. 10/10 booking this house again !! Internet was spotty at times but hey, not there to be online anyways! ##### Kaytlin B. It was perfectly suited for our family of five adults. Plenty of space, supernice kitchen and living area. Extremely confy beds. Top terrace was a favorite spot for us all.
