I felt like I was living in a museum instead of simple bed and breakfast. The accommodations were clean and comfortable and contained everything I needed. My breakfast was definitely on the gourmet side and I enjoyed sitting in the formal dining room feeling like I was a guest of the family who built the home. If you can’t spend the night, tours of the home are available and high tea events are offered. I was originally looking for a budget motel for my Port Townsend trip but then came across the Starrett House. The price was a bit more than a motel but the value of the fabulous breakfast and the ambiance of the property justified the splurge. The location is just up the hill from the historic shopping district and I was able to walk to the ferry, shops, and several eclectic dining options. Host Ami was so lovely taking us on the tour of the property and her breakfast included the best fruit salad I have ever had. We had the purple room, the old drawing and it was spacious and comfortable. Do note that it has the soaking tub but no shower so if that’s something you need, chose a different room. The only negative is it needed a small mirror above the sink. I think one used to be there but no longer.
