Royal Sun Hotel

"Prior to booking, it is helpful to remember that this is a 3-star hotel. With that being said, it is a rather solid 3-star hotel. My family of 4 stayed in 2 different rooms for 5 nights, and it was an overall comfortable stay. The rooms were spacious, the view of Chania was beautiful, the breakfast buffet was delicious and had many selections which changed daily, the free laundry room was helpful as we were staying in Chania during the latter half of our trip, and the shuttle service was convenient. We were fortunate enough to find parking each night, but some nights may be harder than others, especially if non-hotel guests are parking there for the restaurant. If there is no parking surrounding the hotel or in the back, I believe you can still park on the hill leading up to the hotel. However, what surprised us during our stay were the thin walls. I do not recall reading any prev reviews with noise issues, but during our stay, each morning and night, we kept hearing sounds of chairs being pushed along the ground? We weren't sure if our room was under another guest or staff (?) room. Luckily, it wasn't loud enough to interrupt us while we were sleeping, but was a bit bothersome while we were awake. Perhaps we were unlucky as my parents stayed on the ground floor and reported no noise issues. If bathrooms are a priority, keep in mind that some can be very small, especially ones with the corner shower. Fortunately it was OK for us, but may be claustrophobic for some."

I felt genuinely welcomed, comfortable, and happy during my stay at this hotel. I am already considering coming back and spending more time in the beautiful city of Chania. Thank you to the entire team at Hotel Akrotiri for making my stay so special. I highly recommend this wonderful place to anyone visiting Chania!"

"Na een hartelijke ontvangst hebben wij met ons gezin met 4 tieners 5 dagen van deze prachtige plek kunnen genieten. De villa zelf is qua inrichting klassiek, maar goed schoon en lekkere zeepjes, shampoo, douchegel en bodylotion liggen overal klaar.De keuken heeft alles wat je nodig hebt om te koken, voorzien van oven, grote koelkast en vriezer met ijsblokjes.De tuin met het grote en diepe zwembad, het gazon en de gehele buitenruimte zijn fantastisch, wel vooral grotere kinderen geschikt.Kreta heeft veel katten rondlopen zo ook hier. Wij vonden dit gezellig, maar mensen die bang zijn wellicht niet.Verder is een huurauto aan te raden, want mooie stranden, kloosters en Chania zijn goed met de auto bereikbaar.Een plek om van te genieten en wellicht om terug te keren!"
