#### Learn how to windsurf, dive among underwater volcanic rocks or simply enjoy the tropical environment of this pristine beach.

The Puerto del Carmen Beach is an ideal relaxation spot by day and a party location after sunset. Stretching between VIK Hotel San Antonio and Puerto del Carmen's old town, this beachfront combines a tropical atmosphere with good eating, family-friendly energy and thrilling watersports.

Join summer crowds who flock to the beachfront to claim the perfect spot for the day. The clean sand, blue-green waters and tropical palm trees make it one of the island's most beautiful locales.

Though slightly pricey, rented hammocks and sunshades offer a touch of comfort in the beach's premium locations. Bring a book or enjoy a nap on the beach. 

Take the kids for a swim in temperate waters the shallow coast makes this a friendly beach for toddlers. Older kids can jump off the nearby jetty. Alternatively, explore the underwater world with snorkeling gear. Rent equipment from beachfront tourist operators. 

If you want a more intimate experience of Lanzarote's marine environment, go on a diving tour. Inexperienced divers can learn from schools which operate throughout Puerto del Carmen. Be sure to explore the waters of Playa Chica just next to the beach. The underwater volcanic rock formations sheltering fish and barnacle species make this an intriguing experience. 

Windsurfers are a common sight in these ideal conditions. Watch them skim the waves or head to a local windsurfing school and learn the adrenaline-charged sport yourself. Other thrill-chasers can rent a Jet Ski or go banana boating. 

When you get hungry, head to the promenade and choose from a range of cuisine. Most of the seafood is sourced locally. 

Find Puerto del Carmen beach on Lanzarote's eastern coast just a 15-minute drive from Lanzarote's international airport. If you'd like to escape the crowds, visit peaceful nearby coves like Pena Grande Beach or Playa Chic, which both have pleasant boardwalks.

A lovely quiet hotel a few minutes drive from the centre of Tinajo where are there are a couple of restaurants and supermarkets. If you want a lively nightlife then this probably isn't for you, but if you want a relaxing break where all of the tourist spots are within a 30 minute drive then this place is great. Breakfast was tasty and filling, and the owner was a great help with information about what there was to see and do on the Island. If I were to come back to Lanzarote I would certainly stay here again.
