Initially, there was a small cave chapel where residents of neighboring villages came to honor the memory of the Holy First Martyr Thekla, very revered and beloved on the holy island, to ask the Lord for intercession and teaching. And to this day you can go into this chapel, going down from the modern snow-white church to the beach. A new church was built today.
