Europe Square is an open space with some of Larnaca’s earliest British colonial buildings from the 19th century. The plaza, which is next to Larnaca’s coast, is full of charming mini-trees, benches and an impressive water feature. It is one of the main squares in the city and is an ideal meeting point for locals and travelers. Use it as a designated base as your touring companions explore the city and want to reconnect. Capture photos of the quaint colonial houses with their simple, white façades and red tiled roofs. Dating back to 1879, they mark the arrival of the British Empire in the city. Learn about Larnaca’s colonial past by browsing the buildings on the side of the square. See the former governor’s home, port master house, chief customs office and many other administrative sites. They were all restored in the 1990s to appear as they would have looked a century ago. Some of the structures are used today to house interesting sites, such as the Paleontology Museum and the city’s main art gallery. Gather around the remarkable fountain at the center of the plaza. Sculptor Papagiannis designed a work called *Seagulls in Flight* in 1996 to sit above the water jets. Sit at one of the many benches in the plaza with a book and relax in the Mediterranean sun. Enjoy the view of palm trees that line the nearby beach. See the bizarre plants that resemble small pine trees with colorful petals at the top. They feature an extraordinary range of yellow, red and pink flowers. Meet friends in the evening before moving to one of the many cafés and bars in the area. The plaza was named in 1996 to commemorate the European Union. Europe Square is a very short walk from the northern point of Finikoudes Beach. (280 reviews) Good room, spacious and fairly clean. Modern decor. I asked for a dream box as the tv tuner didn’t seem to work. Balcony in room 122 was probably the smallest I’d seen. We had the breakfast option and, all I’d say is, go early as it got (gets) very crowded. Food options were ok, nothing special and didn’t feel 5-star. I ordered an omelette and is was ok. Quite a lot of food options for kids. Bring your own tea bags as the tea served is very low quality. What let the hotel down was the lack of children’s activities compared to other similar hotels in the area. The playground needs a complete renovation. (125 reviews) We had a wonderful time at the Asimina, this has got to be one of the nicest 5-start hotels I have stayed, and I have stayed in my fair share. This hotel is well run with spacious rooms. The views are stunning as the hotel sits on a lovely beach facing the sea and is exceptionally clean. hard-working waiters and staff in the dining room. An excellent selection at breakfast and if you choose evening buffet an overwhelming variety of choice and excellent quality food. Looking forward to getting back to suite118 one fine day, which had its own private pool surrounded by flowers, shrubs and very private. We had a well-appointed spacious room with a large bathroom. But what makes this hotel stand out is the staff, who were all polite and extremely professional. A big thank you to the lovely ladies on the reception. The extremely helpful and kind Anna-Maria, together with the lovely Miruna, Laurentiu and Valentina. Thank you all for the bottle of champagne, we very much appreciated it. Lastly a special thank you to the lovely and cheerful Simona, what an asset she is, always smiling and making us laugh whilst working hard cleaning our rooms, what a sweet lady.
