Highly recommend walking to Merchant Oyster Co. and hanging around that area of Lawrenceville. The property itself is ideal if you’re just looking for a place to stay/sleep after exploring in Pittsburgh. There isn’t a whole lot of space inside to hang out, and the backyard is shared with other properties in the area so not the most ideal for privacy. The biggest drawback is that the entire bottom floor smells like the basement, which isn’t the most pleasant smell. There isn’t a door on the basement so we figured this was why, but I’m honestly not sure it would cover up the smell even if there was one. The few air fresheners that were there when we got there didn’t work, but we spent most of our time in the city so it wasn’t the biggest deal for us. The host was great, very responsive and thoughtful with a check in email on arrival to see if everything was alright. This is something that is much appreciated, and I felt that if we needed anything at any point that it would be taken care of quickly.
