You and your guests will be staying in historic Deutschtown (pronounced "Doychtown")--named for the German immigrants that settled here in the 18th century. The Allegheny Commons park is Pittsburgh's oldest park— known for its mature canopy trees, beautiful fountain and lovely Lake Elizabeth. The park is within walking distance from the house You will also be steps away from fantastic pasta dishes and greens and beans at Legends Eatery a 2 minute walk away! just remember to BYOB. Max's Tavern is an authentic German no frills restaurant with a great little bar and cozy booths. If you are looking for something a little more fancy, Fig and Ash on East Ohio street is the place to be—- Delicious home-away-from-dishes led by one of Pittsburgh's top chefs. However, please remember to make a reservation so you can enjoy this unique spot. Yinz Coffee and Starbucks are both within walking distance on East North Ave. Randyland on Arch street is a wonderus experience and not to be missed-- 412 APoTHECA on Federal Street in the Mexican War Streets will delight your senses ---featuring a curated selection of bath, body & hair products as well as small gifts centered around self care. On the way to the Steeler game walk through the park to Western Ave. On Western you will find Reficlio Winery featuring Argentinian wines, The Modern Cafe—which opened in 1933 and has a great bar & good food, Nicky's Thai Kitchen and two breweries. You will also notice on East North Avenue The newly remolded Garden Theatre that looks beautiful when lit. Let it be known that North Side is full of diversity—there are rich, middle & those less fortunate trying to make their way. You will notice when you walk the neighborhood buildings being worked, beautiful old homes & some places that need a face lift—-but this adds to North Sides charm & ever changing spirit. The Andy Warhol Museum, The Mattress factory, Children's Museum, Acrisure Stadium, downtown Pittsburgh, Stage AE and PNC park are all within walking distance. Walking is the you best bet to get to many attractions but Lyft and Uber are always available. There is also mobility hub on Western Avenue to rent e-scooters through the transit and spin apps--- in great weather they are a breeze to use. We recommend using UBER or LYFT to navigate in Pittsburgh as it can be tricky to drive---but compared to other cities the traffic is minimal. ➲To park free on street we will need: 1\. State vehicle is registered in 2\. Make of vehicle 3\. Model of vehicle 4\. License plate number ➲If you are renting a car please let me know and you can provide the information after picking up your car. ➲AGH parking: You can opt out of street parking and park in the hospital garage. The cost is approximately $24.00 per day. ➲This space is NOT ideal for guests with mobility limitations. There are many steps to the front porch, the suite and the 3rd floor. ➲Some of the buildings in the neighborhood (as in any city) are not in great shape but you’ll see many are being renovated. North Side has been flourishing in the past several years as you can tell by the renovation of the Garden Theater on West North Avenue. ➲Please note while exploring the neighborhood, you may encounter some of our neighbors who are experiencing homelessness. My family and I went to Pittsburgh for the weekend to see a couple of baseball games. The property was a perfect location to easily walk to the games and also easy walking distance to the Strip District. This is an older house that has been very well maintained. We felt very safe there. We would definitely stay here again if we come back to Pittsburgh. ##### Lori H. Plenty of parking that was easy to find and we felt safe in the neighborhood. This property has so much charm and character and we really loved staying here. The real bonus was the large work desk upstairs. I had to attend a few ZOOM meetings and this was private enough from the main living area downstairs that no one needed to be too worried about background noise. Two full bathrooms...well I don't need to say anymore! Communication with Caroline (host) was top notch. Very responsive and went above and beyond to make sure we had an incredible experience. The place was well-equipped with all the essentials, making my stay comfortable and hassle-free. The decor was lovely, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Additionally, the hostess was extremely responsive and friendly, always ready to assist with any questions or concerns. Our group really enjoyed Caroline’s place in Pittsburgh, PA. We we’re in town for a couple baseball games at PNC park and we’re looking for a more comfortable space for our group of 5 with one 3 year old. This was the perfect spot, close enough to all the fun the city holds but in a quiet neighborhood away from the chaos of the city nights. The location (across from the hospital) wasn’t too busy at all, and we were able to find street parking for two vehicles directly in front of the property! We were able to walk (a .8 mile stroll) to PNC park, and the route was both easily walkable and felt safe/well lit as we strolled back in the late evening hours. This stay is in a convenient spot for events in the North Shore, and the comfort ability of the property couldn’t be beat (even down to the little details like extra large bath towels & an easy check out process)! My husband and I are frequent Pittsburgh visitors and we won’t hesitate to stay at Caroline’s place in the future! ##### Ashley S. The beds were comfortable, and we had everything we needed for a great weekend stay. We were able to park the car and walk everywhere the entire weekend. Easy and safe walk to the cultural district, ball park, and lots of great restaurants. The VRBO host gave us all the information we needed ahead of time. Our host, Caroline, was engaged and attentive. Her property was tasteful, clean, roomy and very comfortable for 4 adults. The location was very convenient on Pittsburgh's North Side. We were close to downtown, the Strip & Lawrenceville where we spent most of our time. The neighborhood is on the rise with a combination of new and updated properties. Felt safe at all times. Close to Randyland, YINZ Coffee and a cool local grocery/deli, Mayfly. Strongly recommend! ##### John S.
