This is one of the best waterfront cabin rentals we have at Backroads Reservations, with its amazing views of the Hill Country, quiet rural setting, and convenience to the shops and attractions of nearby Pipe Creek and Boerne. Inside and out-from the tree-lined property to the rustic beamed ceilings, this sweet little cabin has to be seen to be believed! With mountain views, water activities available close by, the pet-friendly and kid-friendly Casita has all the makings for the best weekend getaway. The 14-acre property provides plenty of space for exploration and wildlife watching, and it's remote enough to enjoy in relaxing solitude while still having access to awesome towns within a short drive. Miles of scenic Hill Country roads surround the property for a motorcycle or car tour! Deer often stroll right up to the shaded patio that fronts the Casita, and there's plenty of patio furniture. Red Bluff Creek is the perfect setting for cooling off, or just unplugging for a while (water levels vary based on seasonal rain; please check with us). Share the soothing quiet with your loved ones around the fire pit and have a Lone Star barbecue on the grill provided. Take in the views on the spacious ranch with a leisurely hike and look up in wonder at the crystalline stars on clear nights. Facing the patio is a glass wall that gives panoramic views of the picturesque hills. The warm, wood-accented interior includes a full bath with shower, a king-sized bed, and an additional king-sized trundle, which sleeps up to four comfortably. However, the cabin is separated from the main house and other structures, and a small privacy fence enhances the feeling of being apart. The cabin faces onto a small valley and small lake, with a nice view of the surrounding hills. The lake attracts large herons, and there is a herd of deer that seems to like the property - we saw them every day of our stay. The patio and outdoor area are perfectly set up to relax and enjoy nature, with several comfortable seating options. The entire area is shaded by live oaks and other trees, making it pleasant even in a Texas heat wave - the breeze helps. We would sit out there every morning after sunrise and every evening before sunset to just watch the wildlife and enjoy the view. While there is nothing in the immediate vicinity of the cabin, the location is a good base to explore the area, including being 10-15 min from Bandera and Boerne - both towns offer charm, shopping and good restaurants. A little further out is Comfort, and even Kerrville is easily accessible for more options. The cabin itself is one large room and a bathroom, all very nicely decorated and very comfortable. The AC works great. There is a small kitchen area in one corner and a small dining table area in the opposite corner. The bathroom is good size and well-furnished. I felt very comfortable while we were there. And to reiterate, the casita was so very charming!! The views from the back patio were breathtaking! A much needed city escape! We absolutely love the hill country! The check-in process had a few snags… After 2 attempts, we still didn’t receive our check-in instructions via text, however, the host company was very responsive to an 11pm sos message for help with getting inside. There was some confusion about our check-in date so there were no lights on when we got there and the air had been off so it was quite warm. Once we turned the AC on, it cooled in no time. We were sort of bummed as The property description on VRBO was somewhat misleading. We were under the impression that we would be on a multiple acre, private getaway and were looking forward to the ‘by-our-selves’ relaxing get away all weekend. However, the casita is situated right beside the property manager’s home and another home so you did not have the privacy that the ad lead us to believe. So that was a little disappointing after driving over 4 hrs to get there. Overall, the casita was a beautiful and charming getaway in the hill country that is a must see!! From feeding the deer in the morning to watching the Fireflies dance at night, Casitas did not disappoint. The bed, oh the bed, was like sleeping on a cloud. Keith and Shirley are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. If you are looking for beauty and peace, I highly recommend this very special place. We can’t wait to return. 🙂 ##### Carnel B. Discrimination Me and my husband booked for three nights and instead left after one night. This was our little honeymoon get away for a few days and we were disappointed. We were never greeted when we got there. There was no hot water, we took cold showers. The pictures online are false. The creek had barely any water it was extremely low. They need to update their pictures of the view of the creek as this was why we booked in the first place. It is not worth staying as the view included the creek. There was no hospitality, at least not for us. Very disappointing! Do not recommend! Bad discriminating vibes in this place. ##### Abram A. I was looking for a quiet place for us to chill and unwind. This place was perfect. I didn't exactly realize the kitchenette didn't have a stove, but with so many wonderful places to eat dinner nearby it was not a problem at all. We had a great, quiet weekend away at the casita. Our dogs loved it too! Even though it was hot, the swing and porch are covered and are perfect places to relax and read.
