Situated in Pingtung City’s Chonglan Village, the grandness of the Residence is evidence to the Hsiao Family’s wealth, power and well-respected social status at the time. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong in Ching Dynasty, the Hsiao Family ancestor, Hsiao Wei-Tian, crossed the Taiwan Strait and started his life in Taiwan as a farmer. Later, he engaged himself in the sugar trade business which later prospered and transformed him into an incredible wealthy man with accumulating riches.
