It’s a small world indeed at this fun and quirky attraction with scale models of the world’s most iconic landmarks all carefully made with the most intricate of details.
Spend a day at Minimundus and experience scenes from 40 countries from across the globe. There are 156 carefully crafted models here, ranging from famous landmarks to lesser-known cultural and historic attractions, which will delight children and adults alike.
Feel like Phileas Fogg traveling around the world as you dart from Paris’ Eiffel Tower to the Statue of Liberty in New York and then on to the Great Wall of China. See the romantic fairytale castle of Neuschwanstein, the Treasury of Petra or Toronto’s CN Tower. The models are all built at a scale of 1:25, many using original materials such as sandstone, lava basalt or marble.
Pose for photographs in front of some of the greatest monuments on the planet. If you get the angle just right, it’ll look as though you were actually standing next to the Taj Mahal, the Sydney Opera House or St. Peter’s Basilica.
As you wander around the vast parkland, look not just for famous buildings and monuments, but for iconic ships and trains too. Listen for the hourly launching of the space shuttle spectacle and watch as steam trains puff their way along the tracks. The gardens themselves are as much an attraction as the models. Inhale the aroma from 15,000 flowers and see 30 bonsais and 40 different palm and cactus species.
The indoor adventure world is a new addition to Minimundus. The year-round exhibition is spread over two floors and is fully interactive and educational. Be amazed at the 4-D cinema, enjoy a thrilling ride in a Mini Cooper car or create your own cartoon at the cartoon station. The park also features a vast slide and an educational “Wheel of Time,” which provides informative tidbits about the world’s buildings featured in the park.
Minimundus is located within Europapark, located a short distance from Klagenfurt and Lake Wörther. The attraction is open from April to November, with longer opening times during the summer months. Discounts are available for children and those under the age of 5 enter for free. Save money by buying a family ticket.
