We absolutely loved our stay here! The staff went above and beyond to make our honeymoon truly special and were so accommodating in every way. Since many of our tours started early, they arranged takeaway breakfasts for us, which was a huge help. We stayed in the pool villa, which was amazing, peaceful, away from the crowds, and the 'floating delight' breakfast was a highlight! The bathroom and shower were incredible: very spacious with great water pressure. We also enjoyed strolling along the bamboo walk to the bar, which doubled as a great running path. The food and drinks are very reasonably priced as well. While the hotel is about a 12-minute tuk-tuk ride to the center, we actually valued being on the outskirts of the chaos of Alona Beach. Coming back to such peace and quiet was exactly what we needed, especially while dealing with jet lag. This was truly a little slice of paradise; I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it and would love to stay again!"

Absolutely phenomenal!! Staff was amazing from the moment we got there until our departure. Definitely plan to stay again. Only concerns we had (but did not affect our stay): 1) When we got breakfast with 5 ppl vs 4 ppl, one person’s meal was always forgotten and they had to wait an extra 10-15 min to get their food; 2) My family prefers breakfast buffets, but I loved their breakfast menu

The fantastic sunset view resort

The reason why I select North Zen Villas is able to see a beuatiful mangrove woods. It was fantastic sunset when I've seen before. Also, the service quality is perfect. The employees always show big smiles.

Our family of grandparents, parents and grandchildren stayed for 4 nights at North Zen Villas in December 2024. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the grounds are attractive, especially the boardwalk through the mangroves, and the food at the restaurant was good. The staff were uniformly cheerful and helpful.

We had a wonderful stay at the resort. The facilities are fantastic and the staff offered excellent service! It’s a bit away from Alona but that is what we wanted. Perfect if you prefer quiet. Would be back for sure.

North Zen Hotel

We love the rooms and the hotel itself with all the amenities around like the Mangroove, the big nice pool and the restaurant. Services are great, food is not the best for me because mostly are healthy, but for all, it was great!!! Crews were so courteous and they cleaned our room every day. Rooms were clean and smells great. I love this hotel.

Beautiful, clean, relaxing, well-designed resort. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was great to have on-site, however, the service was very slow. Even when food was preordered for a certain time, we still had to wait for it for about 45 minutes.

The staff was amazing. They really helped us to feel safe and comfortable while lodging there. The food was 10/10 as well. It's a smaller size resort which is nice if you prefer the quiet. I highly recommend staying here. However as for exploring the surrounding area, it did not feel like a very walkable environment outside the resort. You need to set up transportation or rent a motorbike. They have both options at the resort and even the option to rent a tuk tuk instead of your average car. BONUS - Best happy hour in the world !!!

Peaceful and amazing hotel

We had a wonderful time at North Zen villas, we enjoyed that it was quiet and peaceful. Good service, the staff are very nice and helpful. Big and wonderful pool area with sunbeds. Food was very delicious, and the food decoration were amazing. The opportunity to find restaurants in Doljo is poor. But it is easy to grab a TukTuk/tricykle whenever you want to go somewhere else like Alona Beach. Had one massage at the hotel, can highly recommend. Super!! The bambu walk to sunset is very cool and beautiful, and they have a bar out there to. Can highly recommend this hotel// Therese & Anders

Beautiful setting

The hotel was beautiful although not quite ‘zen’ as the name suggests. The hotel seemed to have a deal with tour groups so there was constant bus loads of tourist groups coming through which turned the bar into a bubbling tourist spot with people pushing and shoving your tables and drinks rather than a relaxing place to enjoy your drink as the sun went down. Seems like the hotel needs to work on their zen vibe. The rooms were beautiful, comfortable beds and a good size. Cleanliness was ok but inconsistent, once our door was left open which was a security risk especially because of the sheer volume of non-guests staying there! Food was mainly good although issues with meat in food despite informing them of vegetarian diets. You have to prebook the breakfast in the morning so they can have the food ready for you but a few times we came in the morning and had to wait over half an hour for our breakfast - no apologies. It was a very inconsistent service! Bar staff at the pool had good consistent customer service. There was one lady at the reception that was always friendly and worked really hard to resolve problems, so we appreciate her help a lot! The manager was also very helpful and accommodating so thank you to her!

The Mangrove Walk Is Great

We were comfortable at Zen Villas, and the staff was very nice and willing to help us with whenever we needed. The hotel seems to cater more to families than those looking for romance. There's a great pool, but there were a lot of kids playing in the pool when we were there. At nighttime, you could usually relax at the pool in a more quiet atmosphere, for exercise or romance. Overall, the hotel is quiet, and the live music on the weekends was really excellent. We loved walking on the mangrove walk. That's a really nice feature of the hotel. The bed was comfortable but the chair in the room was easy for sitting and you have to take a shower really carefully to not splash water all over the floor. My suite had a nice little kitchen and refrigerator, which was great. The restaurant was okay, but they'ed bring breakfast to your room and breakfasts were really good. The restaurant had some tasty dishes but we were disappointed that there wasn't more local food to try and no fresh fish. A fresh fish of the day dish would have been nice. We liked staying at Zen Villas for a few days and would recommend it. Bohol is a great place to explore. We're glad we went there and loved seeing the Tarsiers at the official conservation center.

Hands down a great choice if you prefer a relaxing, quiet stay. Staff very friendly and reliable, never a hesitation w every request or inquiry. Peter and Missy(?) from the restaurant side were excellent; Jayne from front desk was knowledgeable and attentive. Hotel also allows use of amenities at Oceanica, a sister hotel. Use Xpedia for experiences/adventures though to save.
