You have arrived in Old Hawaii, so relax and enjoy (Ku'u aku & Luana, walea). Sea Mountain is off the beaten track for those who appreciate leisure. You are truly away from the hustle and bustle of life’s daily pressures and demands. You are now amidst the beauty of the flora and fauna this area provides... and here, your time is your own. You get a little local flavor, less resort-like feel, with beautiful ocean views and pool. Star gaze at night while soaking in the hot tub. Take an easy stroll to see the turtles at the black sand beach. Location: • Short walk to famous Punalu'u black sand beach • 7 mile drive to Na'alehu, country town with gas station/grocery, farmers market (Wed/Fri), delicious bakery, Hana Hou Restaurant, Taco Tita's, food trucks and more \* 5 miles to Pahala, with Hospital, Longs Drugs, bank, post office and small country store. • 25 minute drive to Volcano National Park, where you can view an active volcano \* 35 minutes to parking lot at Green Sands beach • 60+ minute drive to historic Pu'uhonua O Honaunau (City of Refuge), and world class snorkeling at Honaunau Bay/Captain Cook \* 50-60 minute drive to Hilo \* 90 minutes to Kona Guest Amenities: We have a shared salt water swimming pool and lava rock hot tub that overlook the ocean. The pool area also houses 2 BBQ's. The pool & grounds are beautifully kept and are accessible from the lanai, only steps away. The golf course & tennis courts are not open. Note - Parking is FREE. ACTIVITIES: Travel guides provide a myriad of activities the Big Island has to offer and that is why so many visitors do return. There is always something for everyone, whether young or younger at heart. The range of activities crosses the spectrum from lying by the pool reading your favorite author to swimming with manta rays in Kona, to a midnight visit atop Mauna Kea summit to peer at the vast universe from the astronomical observatory. Between these extreme leisures is golf, hiking ancient trails, ZIP Lines, exploring Volcano National Park, observing lava spewing forth (if Madam Pele cooperates), shopping in Kailua Kona, deep sea fishing, snorkeling pristine coral reefs...the list of activities is limited only by your energy. Don’t forget to take advantage of sunrise at Punalu’u Black Sand Beach which is a short walk from the condo. Sunrise and basking Green Sea Turtles is a must. Take some time to meander local farmers markets on Wednesdays and Fridays in Na’alehu (a 10 minute drive), Sunday in Volcano (25 minute drive), Pahoa (45 minute drive) and in historic Hilo (1 hour drive). These markets feature mouthwatering baked goods, flavorful locally roasted coffee, artisan crafts and abundant fresh fish, fruit and vegetables. FOOD: There is Hana Hou Restaurant, featuring delicious local-style food; the famous Punalu'u Bakery; and a variety of local food trucks all in neighboring Na’alehu. Volcano has Kilauea Lodge, with excellent food, as well as several other good restaurants. More dining choices are available in Kailua Kona and Hilo. However, you may also prepare local cuisine yourself by gathering the freshest ingredients from aforementioned Farmers' Markets, small grocery stores in either Pahala or Na'alehu, or larger grocery stores in Hilo, Kailua Kona and neighboring town Ocean View.
