It is a fairly short ride down to Galway and a great place to base yourself if you also want to go up to Connemara. The yard/garden is really beautiful and gives the illusion of nearly complete privacy (and would be great for kids to explore) and the kitchen is very functional. I particularly enjoyed the wood fired stove in the living room - very cozy. But what stood out most about this rental (I've rented many a property) was how wonderful our hosts were. They brought us potatoes from their garden, fresh eggs, and even baked us a loaf of bread! They really went above and beyond and I would go back to this rental in a heartbeat. Colleen was a wonderful host greeting us on the first day with fresh eggs and homemade marmalade (yum!) She was available when we needed her but we were able to enjoy the seclusion otherwise. My son very much enjoyed the games and toys that were in the cottage and exploring the generous yard. Location was perfect within walking distance from the lake and a 2 minute drive from town.
