We enjoyed the view from our rental and the quietness of the community. I was a bit disappointed in the condition of the rental. The furniture was in bad shape and the level of cleanliness was not to my standard. Kitchen table was wobbly and couch and chair were not comfortable. You could bounce in the chair when you sat down. Carpets were stained and the guest closet wasn't even useable because it was just full of stuff. Cheese wrapper was on the 3rd floor and pretzel wrappers in main bedroom closet when we checked in so I wonder if the sheets were even changed? Stuff was just thrown in all the closets- extra pillows thrown in the storage closet on first floor in with cleaning items? Gross. The house we rented was on the river side rather than the marina side, which I preferred. The house was very nicely decorated and convenient to hiking at Starved Rock State Park. My husband enjoyed the swimming pool. The only thing that needs improving is the mattresses in the master and guest bedroom were terribly loud - sitting down on them, rolling over, any movement at all sounded like I was sleeping on a chip bag. I believe the beds had plastic covers on the mattresses. While this might add sanitary benefits, it was uncomfortably noisy. And the headboard needs to be tightened so the bed doesn't creak. The 4 beds in the top floor room didn't have this issue. Overall we enjoyed this house and location very much. ##### Amy B. Great experience. What a beautiful resort community! We felt as if we had traveled to another state. Hard to believe such a lovely retreat is just an hour from our home. Everyone was soooo friendly. We even enjoyed watching the barges, which brought back memories because we used to live along the river. The close proximity to Starved Rock (hiked three miles) and Utica (had an awesome breakfast at Nonie’s) makes the location of Heritage Harbor a great place to stay! Hopefully we can make a return visit in the future. Everyone was friendly and helpful!
