The rooms are again representative of a by gone time, nothing quite matches, my room safe didn’t work and even when reported to management wasn’t repaired - there is no air conditioning. The gardens were stunning and beautifully kept. The hotel was like a step back in time - not for those looking for a modern hotel - but the hotel was beautifully kept. My only comment would be that the bed was squeaky! Dinner in the fine dining room was a real experience with a large diverse menu and wine list. Yes you have to dress up but that is part of the whole experience and was one of my favourite nights so far. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive - maybe too much so at times. The setting was amazing. The gardens were beautiful and I’m sure will win the award this year as well. The atmosphere was great, with two snooker tables. The photographs all over the property were really interesting and kept me busy for hours. Food was good - breakfast was cooked to order- a real change from buffet style. We stopped for lunch at the golf club which was just at the bottom of the gardens.
