We are in the heart of the highest area of Noto, in the historic district of "Piano Alto", characterised by period houses and alleys, with plenty of people out and about. It is well served: close to Casa San Lio are pharmacies, supermarkets and grocery stores, bars, restaurants, pizzerias and the Post Office. The apartment is about 400 meters from the old town centre, a short and pleasant walk to discover the town s characteristic streets and monuments. GETTING AROUND The town centre of Noto has been a recognised UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2002, along with the other late Baroque towns of the Val di Noto (south east Sicily): Caltagirone, Militello Val di Catania, Catania, Modica, Palazzolo Acreide, Ragusa and Scicli. Together, they are an exceptional example of late Baroque art and architecture, representing the culmination and the last blossoming of the European Baroque period. Casa San Lio is an excellent base from which to visit the eight towns, day after day, following tourist itineraries, food and wine tours and cultural events unlike any other in the world. From the apartment, you can easily reach some of the most beautiful beaches in south eastern Sicily and the Nature Reserves of Vendicari and Cavagrande. The entire place is tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The kitchen was well appointed and stocked with some basics. The walk to and from the central shopping/dining area is lovely but hilly. The house is very vertical so not advisable for anyone who can’t easily walk stairs. Only criticism was that there was no extra toilet paper. Otherwise we highly recommend this place!! ##### Lynn L. There are a lot .. Bed super comfortable lots of hanging space light front facing rooms, back bedroom a little dark but still lovely. All information regarding the area was by Wi-Fi/phone we found a supermarket and shops for food ourselves all within walking distance. We would have appreciated a small welcome pack of minimal food. Bread eggs cheese as we didn’t arrive until 9pm as the owner was aware. We had booked an excellent restaurant just around the corner and thankfully we made it in time …. Just. We had an issue with the water but sorted a shower out over the road so it was fine..all in all a super visit the square we overlooked was a joy as were the church bells ….. ##### Penny C.
