September Visit

Perfect Spot to Escape
Relaxing, secluded and comfortable. Has everything you need to escape. Close enough to hiking and far enough away for some time to yourself. If you’re looking to stay north of Toronto, highly consider this spot on Marble Lake.

Just what I was looking for
Cozy cottage with all the comforts of home. Good deck and firepit area. We stayed over the Thanksgiving 2022 weekend and were very happy with the cottage and location. Quiet and beautiful Marble Lake was wonderful for canoeing and photographs. Short drive to Bon Echo with great hikes, amazing views and good fall fishing. On the scenic Four Seasons Route. I would book this cottage in the fall again.

Half Cottage half camp
Location beside the Marble Lake is beautiful. A canoe is provided, we were able to use it extensively. We discover why this was call Marble Lake, when we explored the Marble River. There is no internet and one bar reception on our cell phone. So this is a good place disconnect. The cottage is slowly being renovated. However it needs tlc. We could see that some improvements have been made. The Kitchen is well equipped and clean. Drinking water is provided. The living areas are quite large and spacious. There is no doors for any of the 3 bedrooms. So we were all on the same clock. A musty smell prevails, the wood stove help aliviate some of it.

Even Better Than Expected
The property is gorgeous, interior is extremely clean and well kept, appliances are all like new, lovely to have a proper shower with a door rather than a curtain as well. The provided water cooler was such a wonderful thought by the owner as the water is rather iron-y. The proximity to the lake was a dream especially for the dogs to be able to run straight into the water (which was shallow, sandy not west, warm and beautiful). A week away here was exactly what we needed. We will definitely be looking at booking time here again in the future. Thank you so much!

Out of this world
Beautiful location on Marble Lake, but not much to visit apart from Bon Echo National Park, only one local restaurant and no WiFi hot spots. Roomy cottage, but in need of renovation; we enjoyed our stay, but it was pricey for what there was.

Thanks for the helpful feedback, Gillian. Most guests love the rustic feel of the cottage but we do improvements each year to make it even better. There is lots to do in the area: pioneer museum, golf, hiking, boat rentals, fishing, ATV trails, petting zoo and more. There are two local restaurants nearby and 2-3 more in Northbrook, 10 minutes away. There are Wi-Fi hotspots at a couple of local restaurants as well as the Cloyne Library, accessible in their parking lot. This info was all laid out in our Guest Info Package sent out in advance but I can understand not everyone has the time to read it.

Very roomy, nice spot!
We realize this cottage is probably much better in the summer. We had some pros and cons and those were mostly winter-related: - pros: 1) very nice spot. The lake is beautiful and the cottage is nested in lots of trees (pines and birches) and quiet. 2) the cottage is very roomy and comfortable (good bed, comfy coach!). 3) Tom, a friend of the owner, came to see if we had everything we needed and was very friendly. - cons: 1) due to the recent weather (lots of snow first and then warm weather) the approach to the cottage was VERY muddy - borderline dangerous to walk up to the door. 2) the fuse to the bathroom kept blowing (you couldn't have heat and light at the same time). 3) due to the high iron content in the water the toilet bowl looks bad!!!

Beautiful location and gorgeous property
We enjoyed a really beautiful autumn weekend at Marble Lake and would definitely come back. Highlights included: roasting marshmallows around the fire pit, taking our puppy for walks through the area, reading books by the wood stove, making music with the keyboard, enjoying the canoe, and looking up at the stars at night. The host was extremely responsive and kind enough to let us stay a little later on our last day provided that nobody else booked for that night. A+!

The waterfront was nice and shallow for little ones and the lake was warm even in late August! This cottage was the perfect getaway for our family and we would love to rent again next summer!

A Nice Getaway
My son and I had a wonderful week at this cottage! The cottage itself is clean and roomy, while also being cozy. It had everything we needed for the week. Access to the water is across the road, but still very close to the cottage and overall very good privacy here. Very close to Bon Echo if you like hiking as well, and good amenities nearby. Best of all, Robert was an amazing host. So responsive and helpful and we felt very welcome.

The cottage is very spacious.
Renting this property is worthed, the caretaker is very pleasant and very nice lady. This place is very private, quite and have a nice veranda on the front and on the side with chairs and table. We enjoyed the canoe, sitting on the chair on the shallow beach ( good for little ones). Only thing is the water supply has a lot of iron which i am not used to it.

Truly a get away to create memories that will last a lifetime.
Hiking in Bon Echo Park during the winter with no one else but the red squirrels, eagles and mother nature was incredible. Heading back to the cabin to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere and a warm fire in the woodstove is a perfect way to finish the day on Marble Lake.

Comfortable and cozy cottage with that exact cottagey feel that you yearn for
My boyfriend and I had a lovely stay at this cottage and quite enjoyed the big windows and high ceilings all the cottagey touches and the wood stove to keep you warm during these December nights. The cottage is directly across the road from the lake you can see a great view of it. The cottage was clean with all the cooking supplies you might need. It also has a beautiful piano in the sun lit room ( a tad out of tune but a bonus to have in a cottage if you can play). The owner David was helpful and friendly and gave good instruction and readily available to answer questions if needed. Would definitely recommend this spot if you’re looking for a place to get away

Cozy winter getaway!
Marble Lake cottage was the perfect winter weekend getaway. The fireplace makes it nice and cozy inside (and plenty of wood provided!) with a great view looking out over the lake. We loved the private deck at the lake, even in winter it was so nice to stand out there and enjoy the lake. Perfect for your morning coffee! I can imagine how great it would be in the summer as well, the lake looked perfect for swimming. The area is really beautiful. We drove a bit further along Road 506 and it turned out to be a really nice scenic drive. We also went for a hike in Bon Echo park (The Shield Trail) and it was really beautiful. David was a great host, lots of communication before and during our stay, quick to respond and answer any questions we had. Would definitely recommend!

good hide-away from routine
My wife and I were looking for a short break in the middle of lake region, while travelling between Hamilton and Ottawa. This is a perfect one if you want to "get lost" (no wi-fi, mobile is patchy, few people around etc). The house has everything you need for such break- lots of wood and a charming woodstove, BBQ, lake shore some 30 meters from the house, piano - if you can, and solitude all around (in November). We spent the first day canoeing the lake, fishing (unsuccessfully though), watching the beautiful sunset and BBQing. The next day the weather was bad, but we walked and drove around a little bit, it is a nice community. The "culmination" of the day was the power cut due to the storm, so we ended up just sitting around the wood stove in complete darkness, talking, paying piano and drinking Portvein, very romantic. The house is spacious, the owner- David- was - very responsive and concise. We had a great two-day stay- and although November is not the best time for cottage life, it all depends on what you are looking for.

A beautiful and warm home away from home
We absolutely loved our stay at David's cottage, and couldn't have asked for a better time. The cottage is spacious, very comfortable and equipped with essentially everything you could need for your trip. The cottage overlooks the gorgeous lake, which is right across the street - the lake was peaceful and perfect for canoeing when we were there. The barbeque and firepit were easy to use, clean and accessible, and we thoroughly enjoyed them. The cottage is also close to nearby hiking trails, a dark sky preserve, and towns where you can pick up any groceries and essentials. Everything was clean, well-kept and prepared for our stay, and David was very kind, friendly and easily accessible whenever we had questions. We only stayed for two nights because of our work schedules, but we left wishing that we could stay much longer - trust me, you won't want to leave at all!

Spacious, Cozy and Character
The pictures give an idea of the character this cottage has but until you open the doors and step inside you won't realize how open concept, yet cozy and comfy feeling it really is. The layout is so unique, with one bedroom having an open ceiling with the living/great room and also actually sharing a brick wall that in the winter time would likely heat up from the wood stove and radiate heat into the bedroom. There are high ceilings throughout the common rooms making it feel vary airy. Its also the first cottage I've ever been to that had a PIANO!!! My partner took lessons as a child and having the doors open while she played as I sat outside on the most beautiful day in September was surreal. It is located in a little pocket of wooded area and it really feels quite private although there are several other dwellings near. There is a cute little restaurant just down the road, and the closest town is called Cloyne and is maybe 10 minutes away. It has everything you need, grocery store and LCBO. The biggest surprise and delight was the abundance of seasoned hardwood that is conveniently pilled on each side of the fire pit. That is unheard of in todays day and I really really hope no one abuses it in the future. There is also a really nice canoe that is available to use! Overall I had an amazing weekend and cant wait to return next summer, hopefully for longer then a few days next time. The owner Dave is an absolute pleasure to deal with and made my stay that much better.

Cozy cottage very close to Bon Echo
We were a group of 4 adults and 1almost teenager. We found the cottage comfortable, with enough sleeping room for all of us. David was very accessible, and even sent us a detailed text on how to use the wood stove at short notice. We are grateful to him for making the stay so comfortable. Bon Echo is only 10 minutes drive from here and there’s a great diner (Marble Lake Lodge) close by, making it an excellent location. We hope to repeat our stay.
