"This is the first time a host has made me feel unwelcome and unsafe. She insisted that we send a copy of the government-issued photo ID for every adult staying in the house, with no care about possible identity theft. She acknowledged that the VRBO platform isn't great for that and told us to text a random number with those instead. She provided no information about the security of how she would store those copies or her retention policy. We didn't know about this requirement until after the place was booked and paid for, or I would have chosen a different place. She would not accept a reasonable substitute, like a list of the names of the people staying in the house, but insisted we had to send copies of our IDs. She refused to program the locks for us until she had copies, and I was worried all weekend that she would reprogram the locks and lock us out of the house because of her reaction to the information she did receive from us. While the house was adequate, this host's practices are dangerous to your safety, and I advise everyone to stay away."
