Access the beach at Yaquina Bay State Park on the west end of the Bayfront, or head over to the Nye Beach turnaround where you'll find a long stretch of sand to explore. The overall cleaning met expectations but I do feel the upstairs bedroom needed some serious attention because of the mold in the two skylight wells. The cleanliness of the house left some to be desired. There were cob webs in the kitchen above the stove and in the downstairs bathroom. We had both a 4 year old with us and a dog. Jun 8, 2021 Liked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy #### Amazing House, Vacasa Not So Much I am going to give two different ratings, one for the house (5 star) and one for the property management company (Vacasa, 3 star). Overall this house is one of the best places we have stayed on the Oregon Coast. The view is fantastic, you can sit and stare at the boats in the bay for hours without getting bored. Nice kitchen and dining room table. Beds were comfortable and lots of space. The only negatives: you have to go through the middle bedroom to get to the master bedroom, but for our purposes this was a non issue. In addition, some of the locks on the windows had the handle broken off. We had to use a screwdriver to open the lock and open those windows. A minor inconvenience at most. I can't say the same for the property management company. When we got there the key was not in the lockbox and they had not given us the combination for the backup lockbox on the property. Had to call them, did get sorted out. There was no soap for the dishwasher, we had to go buy our own. Many of the windows had large cobwebs outside them which could have been easily removed by opening the windows. There was a nail sticking out of the molding (3 feet above the ground) at the bottom of the stairway. One of our family caught a piece of clothing on that nail and it pulled a 6 inch piece of molding off the wall (no injury though). After we left we got an email from Vacasa about a "damage claim" they were investigating with the insinuation that we had caused it or knew something about it. Turned out to be a broken piece of plastic at the bottom of one of the window blinds which had probably been there long before we stayed. Of course, we hadn't inspected every tiny piece of plastic when we checked in but we didn't break it. We found it galling that they were even bringing up this tiny defect, especially because there were locks on some of the windows with handles broken off which had never been repaired. PS If you book directly through Vacasa it will be cheaper. We unknowingly ended up paying a service fee to both Vrbo and Vacasa. ##### John H. It has a great location where you can walk the entire Newport bayfront, and the views from the house are outstanding. The house is well-equipped with thoughtful touches like shellfish cracker tools and portable heaters. There is even a bucket with rags to clean your dogs if you bring them. The beds are soft but comfortable and there is ample parking. The sauna worked well and bathroom ventilation was good in the bathrooms that had fans. You can tell the owners really try hard here. Also, we had no issues with the bedroom-through-a-bedroom layout as it is clearly shown in the photos and virtual tour of the house. We had a few things we noticed during our stay that could be improved. We didn't have a problem because we were only six people, but if you have more than that it might be difficult to sit all together comfortably on the one couch and two chairs, unless you use the dining chairs, in the main living room. Also, the shower in the main upstairs bathroom with the standalone tub was not functioning very well. It was barely a trickle and the person who tried it gave up and climbed out to go to a different shower. The water pressure otherwise is fine (the bathtub spout itself is very strong). Lastly, and our biggest issue, is the near complete lack of adequate curtains or window coverings in the house. The front harbor-side room had some window coverings, but they were mostly for privacy and not for blocking light. The door to the winter sun room had no covering, and harbor lights at night and sunlight during the morning flooded in. The walk-through bedroom had two windows, one right over the bed that had no covering at all and a window opposite the bed that had a translucent shade. The large bedroom adjoining it had no curtains anywhere, and no way to cover up the skylights. The main floor also lacked coverings on most windows, including where the pull-out couch is. We were quite fortunate with the weather, so perhaps on a typical rainy and grey day the lack of window shades wouldn't be a problem, but for us it really was a pretty big issue and caused us to all wake very early. Not exactly ideal for a vacation. Our children had a hard time going to sleep and we resorted to putting them on the floor in the walk-in closet as it was the darkest space available. If curtains or opaque shades were to be installed, we would ABSOLUTELY rent this house again. ##### Robin S. It was not as clean as what we expected. Their was dirt and dust under fireplace. Stains on coffee table, and stain on carpet in family room, which looks like dog stain. Carpets need to be cleaned. The bed downstairs was not comfortable, and we had one older person that could not use the stairs. We have stayed in much nicer places for less money. ##### Sandra G. Great home on the harbor for a visit to Newport. There were 5 of us (3 adults & 2 kids). Plenty of room for everyone. Owners were very thoughtful in having extra amenities such as blankets, board games, extra bathrooms, towels, etc. Ping pong table was a huge hit! May 20, 2022 #### Perfect view and location Loved the park-like setting, the sound of rushing water from the nearby stream, the view, all the space, the high-end appliances, heated floors, the excellent sauna.
