The furnishings and amenities in the room were in poor condition, and there is no elevator—just a steep climb up three flights of stairs, which is a real hassle if you have luggage. There’s no main office for check-in, and after the initial check-in, the staff member disappeared and was completely unresponsive, even when we knocked on his door for assistance. We message to advise we would be arriving before the check in time and if we could leave our luggage whist the room was being prepared and we were invited to come when ready. The room was ready and the host even suggested some local attractions. Not sure if he mentioned but we later discovered a short cut (literally a path leading to the middle of Juifen Old Street within 2 mins) next to the hotel. The room was on the third floor with no lift so take that into consideration when booking. We did have two large luggage case with us but as it was at the beginning of our trip round Taiwan, they weren’t heavy. There was no windows which we can look out. As we were only there for one night, it didn’t bother us too much and we enjoyed the experience of Juifen after the crowds had gone and I believe it’s where “Spirit Away” got its inspiration. ##### Khai Dat Stayed 1 night in May 2025 ### 2/10 Terrible #### Zhi Yuan May 2, 2025 Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service, property conditions & facilities, room comfort #### Overpriced We recently stayed at Ju Jiu House and had some concerns that we'd like to share: 1. Bedding: The bedding seemed tired and wasn't clean, which was disappointing. 2. Bathroom: The bathroom layout was inconvenient, with the shower and toilet areas sharing the same drainage system. This resulted in water accumulating on the floor after showers. 3. Room Condition: The walls had noticeable water stains, and the paint was peeling off in some areas, forming a large air bubble. Given these issues, we felt the accommodation was overpriced. Be aware there is no heat in the building, but a quality mattress heater is provided so I slept quite well, but… Was cold at all other times. If your clothes get wet in the Juifen rain, they won’t dry in the room on their own so use the hair dryer for some help 😉 The bed was comfortable, and the dehumidifier was much appreciated. Even though there is little soundproofing I lucked out and everybody staying in the building was mostly quiet and courteous.
