Great Experience

Quiet get away
Beautiful home right across from the river. About a 45 min drive to sugarloaf for you ski bums. The host goes above and beyond to make you feel at home there with some freshly baked goods. Overall a great stay!

Perfect Getaway
Came up to stay here while we went skiing at Sugarloaf mountain and it is a beautiful and cozy cabin. It is very remote and quiet, but still has all the amenities you'll need. Lois and Paul were very accommodating, including leaving us with some delicious oatmeal scotchies cookies upon our arrival. The outdoor kitchen worked excellently to cook a nice, hearty meal after a day on the slopes. Combined with the cleanliness and price, this place can't be beat. We were very happy here and would certainly stay again!

Lois was an incredible host. She made me feel welcomed immediately and made sure the driveway was shoveled and sanded to keep me safe upon arrival. The property itself is adorable! Paul's handmade furniture and built-ins are top-notch, and the cabin is the perfect place to stay during any season. With 4 beds (2 large bunks with plenty of head room), there's space for family or friends, and the bathroom and kitchen were both kept immaculately. Lois and Paul have supplied everything needed in the kitchen area, including plenty of amenities to cook any meal. The bathroom was well stocked and even included shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The surrounding land includes a screened-in outdoor gathering space, a large fire pit, an outdoor shower for the warmer months, and sheep/chickens. The property is beautiful and set close to Flagstaff, Bigelow, and Sugarloaf, so there is no end to the adventures within reach. Lois and Paul also went above and beyond to accommodate my family when our trip took an unexpected turn. They were kind, thoughtful, and incredibly helpful when our trip was thrown into chaos, and we will forever be thankful for their understanding and flexibility. I can't wait to return to this property in the future, and highly recommend it to anyone traveling to the area. You will not be disappointed!

Awesome place, Amazing hosts!
We were welcomed with warm smiles, warm homemade custard, and a dozen fresh eggs from their chickens. The cottage was perfect for our needs, very clean and well appointed. It was a perfect respite from the chilly cold mornings and the cottage remained warm and cozy on nights in the low teens. We will most certainly be back! Thank you Lois and Paul!

Fabulous stay in hideaway cabin
Our stay with Lois and Paul in their amazing cabin was wonderful. The acccommodation was top notch and there wasn't a single thing that hadn't been thought of. The self catering facilities were the best we've ever had - 100%. The area was beautiful and peaceful and we were privileged to see moose on the back roads one evening at dusk and bears are often seen in the area. A great location, friendly owners and an amazing cabin - I hope we'll be back Kathryn and Jon

Pristinely beautiful cabin
We were warmly greeted by Paul and Lois on our arrival (despite it being very late) - a wonderful welcome! The location is somewhat remote, but that is exactly what we were looking for - getting out into nature. The cabin had all the required amenities and we really loved the semi-outdoor BBQ area. The screened porch was an absolute treat with a view on the forest and all the sounds. We thoroughly loved our stay here - a perfect outdoor getaway - will certainly be back!

Nice little guest house
The hosts were friendly, helpful, and present. The guest house was clean and well maintained, but a bit small. The somewhat cramped quarters are compensated for by a nice screened enclosure just outside the door, and other amenities like a (seasonal) outdoor shower and grill. The bunk beds are functional for a family, but for a retired couple like us impractical. The queen-size bunk bed is up against a wall, so if we were to sleep together, one would have to climb over the other to get to the bathroom in the middle of the night - which us old people must do regularly.

We really enjoyed our stay! The location is off the beaten path, and close to hiking near sugarloaf. The amenities provided were fantastic, and Lois + Paul were extremely welcoming. The netted patio was spacious, and there's a lot of outdoor area to cook (both bbq and stovetop). Would definitely return!

Lois was a delightful host! She greeted us with a warm welcoming smile, gave a tour of the place, and had fresh baked cookies waiting for us! So many small detailed touches were added to the space, giving it such a comfortable home away from home feeling. The kitchen was perfect with all of our cooking needs. The bed was comfortable, and we had a great selection of dvds to choose from. The ambiance of the fireplace was so cozy! Perfect stay for our hiking trip! Wonderful Stay
We throughly enjoyed are stay here. My kids loved the bunk beds. The cabin has everything you need and the attention to detail on all necessities was great. We saw over 100 deer on our way to and from Sugarloaf. Would definitely stay here again!

Fun place to crash in the woods!
Lois and Paul’s spot is a lovely home base for the Carabassett valley! About two hours from Portland, clean, cozy - the “cabin” is connected by a shared covered patio to their home, with a grill and outdoor stovetop, screen room, and outdoor fire circle. It feels a little like a camp or compound in a fun way! Lois and Paul were super friendly and helpful. We had fun grilling in 10F weather and stayed warm under plenty of blankets indoors with the electric fireplace cranked up. The view of the stars is unparalleled out back, and it’s soooo quiet. Bigelow preserve and Flagstaff hut can be accessed by an all season back road directly from the property, so it’s a perfect place to stay if you are looking to hike. We had to leave our stay early because of extreme weather but will definitely be back in the summer or fall!

Clean and well-equipped
Lois and Paul were great hosts and the cabin was cozy, clean, well-equipped, and affordable for a winter or summer getaway. I had read in the description that the property is 50ish minutes from Sugarloaf, so I wasn't surprised when that was the case, but the distance it says when you see the listing (12 miles) must be as the crow flies. We would stay there again in a heartbeat if it weren't so far from our skiing destination.

Basecamp for a wilderness ski trip
We stayed at Lois and Paul’s property on the way to Maine Huts, and trails, where we would ski into their Flagstaff hut, and stay for two nights. Not only was their cabin, perfectly appointed, comfortable and clean, but we came away, feeling like we made new friends in Lois and Paul.

Great little spot.
The online rental process was seamless. The owners, Lois and Paul are awesome.Super nice couple. Very easy location to find even if you are unfamiliar with the area. The place was spotless. My friend and I really enjoyed our stay. We wished it had been warmer so we could have taken advantage of the outside cooking area and screen porch. However it was 15 degrees overnight and a high of 25 degrees during the day. Liked the place so much that I will definitely be returning next year.

Very nice cabin close to trails and mountains
Clean, private, quiet and very nice hosts. Many convenient features, very close to the trails, Bigelow preserve and Flagstaff lake. Good internet and TV if you want it. Also a screened porch and outdoor fire pit. Happy to find it and to recommend it.
