relaxing get away
We use the Marina as a getaway on our trips to Chicago as often as we can, and have always enjoyed our stays great staff, great location, fine restaurant. This visit was a surprise to my wife when she entered her room, we thought all there rooms were suites, and my wife was disappointed to find this not to be the case. The room was to the Marina standards we have grown to expect, but not a suite.

Birthday Weekend
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the Marina Grand Hotel. The location on the Marina is superb. We enjoyed our room on the first floor, especially it's spacious patio where we ate our dinner under the stars and breakfast the next morning. The complementary cruiser bikes we a fun and health start to our Saturday.

We tried it...
Our stay did not get off on a good start. Upon our arrival, the desk clerk told me our reservation had been cancelled on order of the management. The other clerk found another room for us and applied a discount. We did not spend much time in the room except for sleeping for two nights. It was ok and clean. It's advertised as a resort, but it's not much if any better appointed than the two star interstate motels. The billing is odd: they placed two large pending charges on my card for about double the stay rate. I called about it and the agent was in denial about it. The complimentary coffee from the shop was good. We didn't try the hotel bar or the attached restaurant. Bikes were available for use, beach chairs, and towels and those are good touches. The indoor pool area was very steamy, the outdoor pool small. The hotel wraps around a yacht harbor. It's about a mile to the public beach which is rocky and to the main drag which seems to be a decline cycle. We've stopped at New Buffalo many times. We like other close by destinations better.

Nice but not perfect
Hotel is great but if you're looking for true luxury four or five star comfort this is not the place. Rooms are clean and nice but there is something missing from overall quality perspective. You can hear hotel rooms next door if they are loud or have kids rumbling around. Shower and tub is standard like you'd find at a chain hotel. And besides the attached restaurant there is no bars or restaurants in walking proximity. So still a nice place just not that luxury vacation feeling I thought would be there.

It's like being at home.
Great place to gather with friends. We used one room as a central gathering as we came from other areas. Rooms are large enough to accommodate a group for social purposes.

About seven years ago, we'd stayed at their sister hotel, the Harbor Grand, which we also found delightful.

Beautiful place to sit outside and relax!
Love this place to relax and enjoy a beautiful view. Staff could not be more helpful and accommodating. Restaurant is wonderful, too. This was our second visit, and we've always had a great time!

Nice hotel. Way overpriced for the room you get.! Had 2 queen sized beds. Was clean but not worth that much Money! Almost $400 for 1 night. Not worth it!!!!!! Beach about 15 min walk. Harbor with wall to wall boats. Only view of boats!
