Summary: Vacation in simpler times with your pups. The sound of the screen door closing behind you, the smell of the sea in the air and the vintage feel of old school Nags Head - if you've ever said, "remember when," then this 1950's cottage is for you! Renovated yet nostalgic and full of classic Nags Head charm, this is the well-appointed beach cottage you’ve been looking for. A dog-friendly cottage with a studio layout, Kemp & Olive features a well-equipped kitchen, a flat screen TV, WiFi, cable, a shared washer & dryer, and a mini-split heating & air conditioning system for optimal temperature control. The outdoor area offers an outdoor shower, charcoal grill, an outdoor hose, and a backyard firepit – B.Y.O firewood and smores!! For your convenience, the cottage has a cart for hauling your beach gear to and from the sand. Linens and cleaning are included in the rate. Linens are provided by an independent vendor (bed linens, bath towels, washcloths, sheets). Bed will be made when you arrive! Our awesome caretakers, Mike and Lisa, live nearby and are as committed to your experience as we are. Located on the beach road, the property is just a short walk away from a beautiful beach access over a natural dune on Grouse Street (see aerial photos above). One of two cottages onsite, Kemp and Olive is one of just a handful of cottage courts still in existence in Nags Head. In addition to many local retail shops, fine and casual dining establishments and grocery stores, the cottage is also close to many great local attractions including the beautifully renovated Jennette's Pier (less than one mile away), the North Carolina Aquarium in Manteo, Jockey's Ridge, Tanger Outlet shopping, Bodie Island Lighthouse, Coquina Beach, and off-roading and fishing at Oregon Inlet. There is a two-dog maximum, we do not allow cats, and we do not charge a pet fee. There is no smoking allowed in the cottage. The cottage is not handicap accessible. We have a 30-day cancellation policy - refunds will only be issued if cancellation is submitted in writing to the property manager outside of 30 days from check-in date. Most perfect little vacation house! Everything you need to enjoy the Outer Banks! Getting Around: Closest airports RDU (Raleigh, Durham NC) and ORF (Norfolk VA). It is clean and offered us what we needed. The fact it sits right on Route 12, please note if you’re a light sleeper the traffic may be a nuisance. Take earplugs. Enough room to relax and stay a while. However, the weather was perfect for open windows and such. Only one front window and the bathroom window has a screen. The front door was lacking a screen door even though it's advertised in the listing and even describes the ocean air coming in through the front door as the screen shuts behind you. The little courtyard between the cottages was nice have but the string lights in the picture of the courtyard were absent. The outside shower didn't work. When doing laundry the dryer took literally all day to dry clothes. I found the outside vent behind the cottage/laundry room was choked with lint. I pulled the wildlife guard off and removed a ton of lint myself. The t.v. seemed to be on the fritz and when I reached out to Amy the only response I got back was a thank you for reaching out to me reply. Never offered to come by and see what the problem was. Other than that, being by the beach was great. The public access was less than a minute away.. ##### Andy J. It was the perfect size for a studio. It was my spouse, myself, and our two dogs and we never felt cramped. Such a perfect location for what I consider to be the coziest 1 room cottage. Quiet location, clean property, and my pup was just as happy as me.
