Quiet Cove, Hot Tub, Kayaks, Game Room and more Nestled on the slope of Smith Mountain Lake sits Firefly Cottage\~ where the sky is lit up with stars and the fireflies dance over the water. The cottage’s wraparound porch and windows offer beautiful lake and mountain views from nearly every room. The home has an open concept kitchen that allows you to enjoy the company of friends and family while preparing meals. There are multiple dining options including two dinner tables on the main level, a bistro on the porch, a picnic table on the patio and a bistro in the lower level. The cottage is unlike most others in that it has TWO full size kitchens and two docks on the lake. Upon entry you will find the living room, two cozy bedrooms, a full bath with a beautiful tile shower, a washer and dryer for your convenience and the kitchen area fully stocked. Off of the back porch you will find stairs that lead you to a private, lower level perfect for family and children entertainment. The lower level has its own private entrance, please note that it is accessible through the outside patio, so you will have to go outside to enter the game room area. It has a full bathroom with a dreamy freestanding tub, another full sized kitchen to prepare meals or store drinks, a foosball table, an arcade bowling game, a ping pong table, Wii console, XBOX 360 with a variety of games, a smart tv, and board games. For sleeping accommodations, there is a pullout couch that folds into a bed! This is the perfect area for additional family members or older children to hang out, but we do not recommend sleeping accommodations for young children in the lower level as it has its own entrances to the outside. You will have to walk down some steps to access the docks on the lake. The water in the cove is deep and perfect for swimming, kayaking or docking your boat/jet skis. There is plenty of space as we have two private docks for your use. The home is professionally cleaned and sanitized prior to your arrival. The sheets and comforters on the beds are washed in between guests, as well as towels and blankets. For your convenience, we provide these essentials for your stay; Bath towels, beach towels, hand soap, dish soap, laundry detergent, paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags, body wash, wood for fire pit and marshmallow roasting sticks. You will also find some basics in the home such as spices and oils. While we try to keep coffee stocked as well, we can’t guarantee and recommend picking some up before your trip :) We have a regular drip coffee pot. There is plenty of space for families to spread out in this cottage! Firefly Cottage is only a 10 minute drive from Food Lion and 15 minutes from Bridgewater Plaza, a hotspot for tourists to enjoy fine dining, arcade, live music, putt putt and other entertainment. We loved relaxing on the deck and the dock, enjoyed seeing all of the wildlife (with daily visits from deer and herons) and chilling on the couch watching TV once it was too chilly to sit outside any longer. We did not use the game room but it looked like it would be perfect for a family with kids. We rented a pontoon boat one day and had no problems pulling up to the dock. I would not recommend bringing a trailer, but if you do, be sure to coordinate with Taylor ahead of time so you know where to park. The driveway is rather steep and gravel, not paved, so something to be aware of if you plan on traveling with motorcycles. Overall we had a lovely time! The home has no carpet which is great - its spacious, well-stocked, and full of thoughtful family-friendly touches like Guitar Hero, games including a ping pong table, and a hot tub. AC was GREAT, the beds were comfy, and the separate guest suite—with its own private entrance, bathroom, and kitchen—was a great option for extra space. The pull-out mattress is simple, but a very nice additional sleeping arrangement if needed!The outdoor space was a highlight—great docks, kayaks, floats, and firewood ready to go. We also rented a boat, and it was super easy and convenient to do so. The neighborhood was peaceful and minutes from Food Lion and the shopping center.The steps leading down to the lake are tiled and have a bit of movement, so just take your time. Not a big deal but the shower head in the main bathroom is positioned a little awkwardly—nothing major that impacted our overall enjoyment! The listing is exactly as described and more. Plenty of amenities, enough comfortable space for all of us, and the location was so peaceful and quiet. Taylor answered all of my questions quickly and was the most helpful host I’ve ever dealt with. We never left the house because there’s so much to do there- board games, game tables, hot tub, kayak, movies, fishing, etc. Everything was clean when we came in and there’s an abundance of towels! It has everything you could need- pots/pans, spices, coffee, all the essentials. We were able to catch little fish (blue gills) off the dock and even caught catfish (the highlight of our trip). We had two young kids with us (age 1 & 2) so the kid life vests for the dock came in very handy. We would absolutely come back! ##### Courtney L. The view is great. We enjoyed sitting on the porch, the docks, and enjoying time in the hot tub. Each room having a smart TV for the kids was a bonus. They enjoyed time in the game room playing ping pong. Sitting by the campfire and making s’mores was a great way to end our days. We can’t wait to plan a trip back. ##### Sari B. This house checked every box!The kayaks were ready to jump in and row to the fish, life jackets and oars on-site. The hot tub was so perfect after getting chilled by the March breeze while fishing from the kayaks (we landed a 2 lb small mouth as our biggest catch).The comfy couch fit our family for good movie nights, we really appreciated being able to log into our Amazon and Direct TV apps.We enjoyed our stay so much that we booked another several days in April!My family is quite picky about cleanliness and we were very impressed with the Firefly.Food Lion was an easy 10 min drive for groceries and the bait & tackle shop at Indian Point Marina, just a bit further, has everything you might need if you want to fish.We are 4 hours away but it is well-worth the drive for us, we absolutely love the cove location and being surrounded by trees, high over the lake. The game room in the downstairs is a great spot for kids, and has a second kitchen and soaker tub.Overall a great choice for a family getaway! ##### William C.
