Remodeled and tastefully designed St. Paul cottage that is casually comfortable and modern. We’ve put our heart into restoring this side by side duplex that contains many of the original architectural features from the 1930’s. Private and in a great neighborhood, you’ll have one of the units all to yourself. You won’t lack for comfort, quiet, and calm in our cottage. The cottage is a fully renovated 1200 sq. ft. space with 2 bedrooms and 1 full bath. The living area comes with a comfortable couch and lounge area perfect for relaxing, watching the large screen Smart TV, taking advantage of our super fast WiFi, or reading under the light of a modern Italian lamp. The kitchen is sleek and modern with black cabinetry, brass fixtures and stainless steel appliances. It is loaded with everything you need. Love coffee? We do! We provide a couple different ways to make coffee. We have a drip machine or you can use the large stainless steel french press. At our coffee station you'll find sugar (and non-sugar sweeteners), and creamers. We also provide a grinder for whole bean do it yourselfers. Enjoy a variety of different teas as well because we love tea too. The dining room features an antique gothic pendant light, mid-century modern table, and plush velvet seating. The bedrooms are comfortable and quiet with new award-winning mattresses. The main floor bedroom has a mid century vibe with a queen bed and the highly reviewed Helix Dusk mattress (voted one of the most popular mattresses for comfort and support). Up a few small stairs is another bedroom, secluded and very quiet with a king bed featuring the Bear mattress, known for modern cooling technology to provide great sleep. There is ample on street parking in front of the cottage. The neighborhood has many walkable attractions, places to eat, local shopping stores. We live in Minneapolis but are always on call and will be exceptionally responsive to our guests needs or questions. Convenient to excellent breweries, cafes, and restaurants: Rose Patisserie, Yum, Magic Noodle, French Meadow Bakery and Cafe, and many other fantastic choices all nearby. If you’re in the mood for cooking in our modern kitchen, Whole Foods is 3 ½ blocks away (an 8 minute walk). Our modern cottage is near 5 universities: Macalester, Concordia, Hamline, University of St. Thomas, and St. Catherine University! Great for parents visiting their college kids! Or, if you are looking to explore everything that Minneapolis / St. Paul has to offer, our cottage is an equally short ride from the downtown areas of St. Paul and Minneapolis. Enjoy activities year round. Only blocks from the beautiful Allianz Field where the Minnesota United play. Catch a Twins, Vikings, Wild, or Timberwolves game. Check out a concert in downtown St. Paul at the Xcel Energy Center. Walk along the Mississippi. You’ll love exploring the Twin Cities and then coming back to a quiet and comfortable home. Whether you’re in town for a girls / guys weekend, for work, or just to tour one of America’s best cities (or two of them ☺), our modern cottage will make you feel at home. There is plenty of on street parking in front of the cottage. The cottage is also closely located to public bus lines, airport shuttle, and a light rail station. The house is great for a small family of 3 and kitchen was well stocked to make breakfast. I would choose this house any day over a hotel room. I did miss the email from the rental agency regarding check-in because I was expecting to see it come via VRBO and not the agency. The email went to spam. It would be helpful for the agency to send this info via VRBO text too. The house does need a really thorough clean. Baseboards were dirty and floors looked as though they were not cleaned before our stay. Kristen from the agency said the renters before us spilled oil on the floors which is why the floors appeared as they did but that didn't seem consistent with what we saw. The bathroom grout surrounding the tub was old and moldy. It needs replacing. I've stayed in spotless rentals and I've also seen much dirtier so compared to other rentals cleanliness this was a 3\. However, the bedding, towels, bedrooms were neat and clean and there was no unnecessary clutter. House and amenities were exactly as described. Super comfortable mattress and high quality bedding. Stayed here over Thanksgiving and kitchen was the best equipped of any rental house we have stayed at. They even had a potato masher! Pots and pans were high quality and like new condition. Home was clean and furniture was clean and good quality. Host communication was excellent. Host made sure that someone cleared the outside stairs and walkways after a large snow event as well. (Dan was so friendly and great!) We also appreciated the hair dryer and shampoo, body wash and conditioner that was available in the bathroom and the Britta water filter in the refrigerator. Everything was going great until our dog smelled a rabbit and went under the shed. THE BACK OF THE YARD WAS NOT FENCED and our dog got lose. This is the fear of pet owners-in a strange town and your pet gets away. After 30 minutes my husband found our dog. I called the host and reported this and a handyman was sent over and made what seemed to be a temporary fix. It could have turned out much differently. I hope the fence is fixed. ##### katherine M. The only slightly negative things were the lack of any storage drawers for clothes, uncomfortable bed pillows, and the steep stairs to the basement where the washer/dryer is located. All are typical in this area. On the positive side, there is a great heating/cooling system and new windows. The mattresses were very comfortable. The owner responded quickly to any issues. Our son and his wife came to visit and loved the unit and the neighborhood. ##### Sheila F. The neighborhood feels safe and friendly, with many people out chatting and walking their dogs. Beds were very comfortable, and the dining table is perfect for playing cards or games. Outside of a lock issue which was resolved in a timely manner, there were no issues. The cottage was well equipped and very clean. The local Macalester College area was a good place to be based. The indoor space was great. I would say the back yard area could have been better and we didn’t end up using it. Overall a good experience. I would stay there again when in Minneapolis/St Paul. ##### Ed O.
