When we first entered the place, the thermostat read 85\. In the summer? Really? It was nearly 100 degrees outside the day we checked in. It took hours to cool the house down. According to the host, the housekeeper was there just hours before we arrived. Why wouldn’t they turn on the A/C? The house reaked of plug in air freshener. The scent was so strong, we had to unplug them. The other things we found were: -The carpet on the stairs was old and worn through. -In the kitchen, the dinner plates were old and chipped. The utensils looked dirty and some of the cabinets shelves had not been cleaned. There were dishes in the dishwasher. Hard to tell how long they’d been there. -The bath towels were old and brownish in color. I believe they had been washed but not very well. They looked more like dish rags. -The staircase rails badly needed painting and there were water stains on the ceilings and walls. -The next morning we realized those plug-ins we removed were masking the smell of mold in a few areas of the house. -The patio window leading to the deck was old and heavily stained from direct sunlight over the years—so badly that you could not see through them. -The deck needed repair and new paint. The firepit area wasn’t in good shape. -The house during our stay was cold on the lower level and warm on the main floor. ##### Reginald F. Stayed 3 nights in Jul 2024
