Quiet neighborhood. Super convenient to the rail trail. We saw a mama bear and baby cub along the trail, as well as a young adult bear on the other bank of the river, several coyotes and Bald Eagles. Loved Beartown Rocks SP, and hikes off the Highland Scenic Hwy. We ventured out to the New River Gorge Bridge, Babcock SP which is beautiful and to Summersville lake. So much beauty and nature. We also met Patty, the owner, who is a great host. Can't wait to come back! Dirt bean has the best food in town, love their mahi tacos, and Dari Land has yummy smash burgers. We found the house to be quite comfortable and was the perfect location for exploring the Pocahontas County parks. After hiking and walking all day, we thoroughly enjoyed being able to get back to the Getaway to crash and recharge for the next day. I stayed at this cute property with my two sons and it was perfect for us. The house is beautifully decorated, very clean and the location is walking distance to restaurants, the river and the Greenbrier River Trail. We were lucky that it rained one of the days and I loved sitting on the porch with a hot cup of tea listening to the rain. The owner was very responsive and check-in was a breeze - all online. The in town location could not have been more perfect as we were only a block or 2 from the festival and music venue. Clean, comfortable and cozy with a wonderful shaded side porch. It is perfectly situated right on the Greenbrier river rail trail, midway along the trail, which is why we chose it. The cottage is adorable. The beds were all very comfortable and the home is well equipped with everything we needed. We also enjoyed early morning walks on the trail as well as hiking at Watoga SP and up at the Cranberry Glades. We had never been to Marlinton before so it was fun exploring this cute little town along the river and enjoyed really great food at Alfredo's, Dean's Den and Dirtbean.
