Summary: Winterset is a great location in Mammoth Lakes for a family vacation. The Space: The convenient location of Winterset #28 allows for easy access to Little Eagle Ski Lodge and is even within walking distance to the Green Line Shuttle. Being in the center of action in Mammoth Lakes, shops and restaurants are also close by. Whether you are visiting to hit the slopes or hike along the lakeside trails, Winterset will have you wishing you could stay longer. The living room is located on the 2nd floor and is furnished with a wood burning fireplace, Youtube TV (with Amazon Firesticks), and a DVD player. Light the fireplace to warm up after hitting the slopes. The whole family can lounge in here with some hot cocoa and a movie. TiVo and WIFI are also provided for your convenience. Behind the couch, is a bar and seating perfect for entertaining. If you need to catch a breath of fresh air, step outside onto the private balcony. The balcony has amazing views of Meridian Boulevard and the Sherwin Mountains. A BBQ is prepared for grilling up dinner as well. The kitchen is fully equipped with a wine chiller, toaster, coffee maker, blender, slow cooker, waffle maker, pots, pans and more. There is a dining table with seats for 6 and the breakfast bar has seats for 2. The mudroom is by the entryway, downstairs, and handily available to hang your winter coats and snow gear. The master bedroom is located on the same floor and furnished with a King bed, mounted TV, closet, and bathroom. Down the hall is the guest bedroom. This bedroom is furnished with a Queen bed, mounted TV, and a bathroom. The last sleeping area can be found on the third floor of the home, in the loft. There are 2 sets of bunk beds, a single Twin, and TV. The first bunk bed is a Twin over Full. The second bunk bed is a Twin over Twin. Winterset offers 2 assigned outdoor parking spots. The communal pool and BBQ stations are only open during the summer while the hot tub and the sauna are open year round. Please note that requests for late checkout must be received no later than 10:00 AM local time on the day prior to your departure. Early check-in and late checkout are based on availability and require approval, and may be subject to an additional fee of up to $60.00 depending on the number of additional hours requested. There were 2 bedrooms plus a loft, which was perfect for 2 families. Check in was quick and easy. I didn't like that we had to take all the trash out (kitchen + 3 bathrooms) upon check out. Also, the cleaning crew is cutting corners (under the bed, in the couch cushions, etc.). Ample towels, blankets, etc. Kitchen was stocked with basic cookware and spices. While the unit is somewhat dated, it is very well appointed with everything you need. The location is convenient, just a block from the Vons shopping center. The only thing I didn't like was that balcony faces a main street, and when a loud car or truck would go by we would sometimes have to pause our conversation. Check-in and parking were fantastic! The only other minor negative was that I emailed the property manager a few days before our arrival to see whether the pool and spa would be available due to covid, I never got a response. BTW the spa was not operating and the pool was available through signing up one group at a time. The grill and TVs were great and the place was super clean. We would stay again! ##### Mark J. The loft area was great for the kids to sleep in and the two sets of parents took the bedrooms. Both bedrooms had on suite bathrooms and a third bathroom off the living room. This is a 3 level unit so the two bedrooms are at the entry level, the main living space is the middle level, and the loft is the third level. The place was roomie enough for two families and the kitchen was well stocked with cookware, dishes, and glasses. If you are not looking for something to fancy, this is a great place. there is a shuttle stop just out the driveway to get to the slopes and it is one block to the shopping center. It was close to the mountain and close to other businesses in town. The washing machine and dryer were new but didn’t work well(unable to do laundry). The kitchen was stocked well with spices, dishes and appliances. But the knives were very dull and they were missing a few little things(I’m being very picky, as I like to have certain utensils when I cook. But I was able to make over 12 meals without buying any major cooking equipment.) They had lots of games which was a nice plus, and the bbq worked well. The water in the faucets was very hot. But I think they could’ve updated the house rules and pool rules as it was a little confusing upon checkout as the papers printed in the VRBO contradicted the checkout procedures emailed to me. Interior clean but worn; however, BBQ and deck were not clean. Master bath shower drains very slow. Light bulbs out and no parking passes on arrival but staff in Mammoth quickly responded. The most disturbing part was the terrible fish smell in the kitchen on arrival (staff that visited with parking passes soon after arrival also smelled the odor) and the smell was just as bad when we departed. Cleaning staff should have informed the property management who in turn should have notified us before arrival.
