The apartment was very clean and spacious. The area was central and within easy walking distance of great restaurants and museums, and it was quiet for sleeping, despite how busy it was outside. The management were especially helpful - when our washing machine wasn't working, they had a handyman on site within an hour and it was fixed the next day. We were so grateful! The only downside was that the living area of the apartment lacked natural light, and I missed being able to open a window to see the daylight. Reception sent the apartment access details via WhatsApp when I wanted them sent to my private email. When we arrived at the apartment at 10pm to check in, we were informed that the apartment we booked was no longer available, but that they had a similar apartment available for us at a nearby property. Various incoherent explanations were provided – the drought!, construction taking place in the room, etc. Given the lateness of the hour, we had little choice but to view the other apartment and accept it, despite the fact that the substitute apt was on the ground floor facing the street and 100ft away from a nightclub that was thumping till about 5am. My analysis is that the tenants of apartment in which they ended up sticking us had complained about the noise and had been re-assigned to the apartment which we had reserved. In addition we found a piece of broken glass on the floor of the bathroom, so their housekeeping is none too trustworthy either.
