Permits BBMP2019/0006 & SUP2 2019/0003 GE-081-730-0480-01 & TA-081-730-0480-01 This is a BnB not a STRH Owners live on property. We encourage you to respectfully enjoy our property however please no loud and boisterous parties, thank you. This is a NO SMOKING property. No smoking is allowed any where upon the property. Pualani Hale is approximately 2000 square feet and overlooks views of Haleakala Ranch and west Maui. The rooms are on the small side but the space is large and the views are breathtaking. This 3/2 is attached but completely private from the owners wing. Please note that use of the pool, hot tub and dry sauna are private if reserved via our shared calendar app. Mahalo! This area of Hawaii is special and unique. It is a very different experience, one of the mountain. We are on 2.5 acres and nestled upon the slopes of Haleakala (meaning house of the sun in Hawaiian). The summit of Haleakala is at 10,023 ft and is a must see while on Maui. We are at approximately 3000 ft and surrounded by cattle ranches and forrest. Hiking and mountain biking trails are near by. Wild pheasant, deer, pigs and Pueo (hawaiian owl) are often seen. This is a very special place on Maui and only really described by being here in person. Because of the natural beauty and peace afforded by this amazing place we encourage you feel that solitude and to please respect the same of others. We are however excited to meet our guests and get to know each other. It becomes a more personal experience for all parties. Of course if you want to be private please do, we are always available to answer any questions or to help in anyway. Just text or call. Pualani Hale also shares the property with our one bedroom B&B Jungalow cottage. We do attract a lot of honeymooners and couples celebrating anniversaries, so it is our intent to offer each of our guests the same opportunity to experience the peace, tranquility and romance that our property offers. Only registered guests are allowed. Check in / Check out - Check in is at 3:00 pm and check out is at 10:00 am. Exceptions may be possible with prior approval from your host. At check out please load and clean dishes in dishwasher. Place dirty linens and towels in hamper provided or on floor. Remove all food from refrigerator and cabinets and please put trash in can near outside laundry. Private use of the facilities & Time Tree - It is our intent to offer our guests private time at the pool, hot tub & sauna. They are however used by ourselves and other guests. Please download the Time Tree shared calendar app to reserve your times. This is a requirement to best respect your use as well as others use of the facilities. Remember this is your vacation. Do you really want to schedule out all your days? We recommend you be spontaneous and book daily. Trust me you will be captivated exploring the beaches, waterfalls etc. and you will run late or change your plans. 1) If you do feel the need to book in advance do not book the same time slot two days in a row and to be fair we ask our guests to not reserve more than 3 hrs in a row. If no one else books you may then reserve hourly there after. If you are running late please adjust your reservation asap. If you are more than 20min late we may cancel your booking. 2) The pool and hot tub are booked as one. 3) Longer reserved stays are possible however with our approval. If you don't mind company please note “all welcome”. I will txt you the Time Tree invitation on the day of your arrival. Pool - Please shower before use. No diving, running or excessive horse play. No glass pool side please use plastic drink ware. Pool hours 8:00 am - 10:00 pm. We usually will have the pool light on your first night here. If it is on when you arrive please turn off as you leave. Hot Tub - Please shower before use. To open just fold in half and lift to the side. If possible please do not drag the cover to move it upon opening. The black button on the wall starts the jets, light switch for both pool and hot tub is to the far right of it. Hot tub hours 8:00 am - 10:00 pm Sauna - To find it, walk out the sliding glass kitchen door. Look to the far right side of the deck and you will see two outside showers and a wood and glass door. You have arrived. Once finished please turn off. Sauna hours 8:00 am - 9:00 pm Laundry - Your laundry is located in the garage accessed through the outside door. Please use the washer/dryer to the far right and left marked guest. Please do NOT wash our sheets and towels. If there is an accident or a need for fresh bedding and or towels just let us know and we will exchange them. If your stay is longer than a week we will refresh them for you. Your personal use of the laundry is between the hours of 8:00 am - 8:00 pm. Noise - Please have fun but be respectful so as not to disturb us, our neighbors or guests. Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm - 8:00 am. It is our intent to offer each of our guests the same opportunity to experience the peace, tranquility and romance that our property offers. Television best practices - Pualani Upcountry is an amazingly beautiful and peaceful place. Sound really travels up here as you will see. Fireplace - If you would like us to light a fire please ask and we are happy to help. Please do not stoke with more than two / three logs at a time. Trash & Recycles - Please place trash and recycles in the marked cans between the main house and cottage. Trash day is Monday P.M. Kitchen- Please do not use anything abrasive(scrubby pad, SOS pad etc.) Bath - Please squeegee shower glass after use. Also at first use it does take a while for the water to get warm. There is shower cleaner under the sink. Please use it if you feel the need. Property boundary - Pualani Upcountry is situated between two steep ravines. The lower part of the property is also terraced and has steep drops. Please for your safety be careful. As well please do not go off the main house deck to the left of the sauna door. Private. Gazebo - At this time the Gazebo is not for guest use. If you have a special request please ask and we will entertain it. Open flame - Candles are romantic but we discourage their use due to the fire hazard and possible waxidents. ;) Broom / Dust pan - Located in cabinet to far left of refrigerator. Beach chairs and coolers for your use - Are located in the laundry area between the main house and cottage. Beach & pool towels - We provide towels for you use. Please do not hang towels on furniture or outside railings. Please use the dryer. Conservation - In an attempt to work towards minimizing Pualani Upcountry’s carbon footprint we humbly ask you to keep outdoor lights off when sleeping and indoor lights off when away from home. Beautiful views and everything that you need to make for a luxurious getaway. Great layout of the property to ensure everyone has their privacy. Loved falling asleep to the gentle breezes, lite rains, and waking up with an unobstructed view of the valley below. House is comfortable, clean, and well-equipped. The view is amazing. Pool and whirlpool were a hit. Close to stores/restaurants in Makawao. Good hiking nearby. The hosts were responsive and helpful. We had a great time here and would have loved to stay longer. Watching the sunset from the hot tub, cooling down in the pool afterwards, lying in bed watching the moon set in the mornings. The silence, the view, the flora and fauna, the rain, the winds through the eucalyptus trees, the stars - where do I stop? The winding and narrow road just adds to the feeling that you are "away from it all", but don't worry, it's actually not that far from town! If you are considering a stay in upcountry Maui, this is the home! Photos and commentary cannot accurately describe the beauty of this home and area. The terraced property and the home full of windows allows visitors to truly experience the peace of upcountry. We enjoyed coffee each morning on the deck watching the sunrise and listening to the birds. Dawn and David are amazing, kind hosts who work hard to provide a fabulous stay. Dawn helped us in so many ways with wonderful recommendations, tips, and even a ride to town for one of us when the rest were gone one day. The home is well equipped and Dawn's attention to detail makes for a special stay. We were greeted with eggs from her silkie chickens, and there were beautiful plants and flowers throughout the home. We loved enjoying the pool and hot tub, especially at sunset. The stars at night are so bright! I loved the plants, trees and flowers on the property.We were able to go to all the different areas for beaches, as well as RTH, and Haleakala. Truly the best of both worlds. The views are incredible! Staying up country was a different island experience . More of a local vibe . It is a steep climb of a winding road up to the house but it’s worth it. We didnt take advantage of the pool as much as we would have liked. We did a lot of sight seeing and would arrive back tired and ready for bed early. The birds sing early in the morning here. So be prepared to be up with the roosters. The house has everything you need. Comfy beds and a lovely kitchen and open living area. The morning views were just incredible.
