An absolutely beautiful location. Each chalet villa has a fantastic view with spectacular sunrise & sunsets. We were nicely welcome by staff and taken care of during our entire stay always with our comfort , enjoyment and satisfaction as their primary concern. The pool area was very comfortable and easy access to a spectacular blue water beach . The food was also very tasty , though it’s nice go into Victoria occasionally for variety . I highly recommend this boutique hotel . Can be pricey with food, but totally worth it for this very special location. Restaurant, pool and other facilities are nice enough and boast spectacular views as well. Good parking. During our stay (early June), the sea was quite rough including strong current; swimming was advisable only at certain times. The breakfast was average at best, so we did not test lunch or dinner, but ventured to other places in the area. To us, the big downside was the service, which is lacking professionality, hospitality and interest in the helping guests have a good time. Examples include strongly insisting on full payment on arrival despite a long journey, hefty charges for Nespresso capsules in the room, the lack of breakfast menus and long waiting times for virtually anything we ordered. As guests, we constantly felt guilty of annoying staff and keeping on distracting them from their work. In summary, at Carana Beach you are paying for the very nice location, seaview from the rooms and the intimacy of a smaller hotel. When we complained to management they offered to downgrade us to a regular room and a refund for the difference in rates, since we couldn't use the pool. At this point we were moved to the room furthest away from the beach with a terrible view, which we ultimately accepted so we could get the refund. However, when we requested the refund after our stay, the hotel lied saying that they never offered us a refund. As if someone in their right mind would downgrade from a villa with a pool to a smaller room furthest away from the beach and without a pool, as still agree to pay the original price. As if this were not enough, we had a numerous other issues including: - We found hair in a plate of food (this plate was never even refunded). - We specifically requested a vegetarian lunch box for a day tour and received a lunch box with meat, so my wife couldn't eat for the entire day. - The A/C broke down and maintenance didn’t fix it until the next day so we couldn’t sleep for an entire night due to the heat. - The WiFi in the room didn’t work for two days.
