We did enjoyed our stay and the kids enjoyed the swim pool. The bungalow where we stayed was very clean but it could do with updating.

Room was spacious with lots of amenities, but was not clean with damp smell. Toilet seats need changing. Water from both shower sprinkles with no force. Apart from these issues, hotel is located in a quiet area with good views from room.

Tremendous

Highly recommend, the 2 bedroom apartment was the size of a house with a sauna and three bathrooms! Food at the restaurant was amazing. Lots to do and perfect for families or explorers.

Fantastic place to stay

Fantastic stay. Quiet, friendly staff, clean rooms. Good location to aberdyfi beach which is beautiful. Not sure why there are a few bad reviews would definitely recommend this hotel.

Resort is in the beautiful Dyfi estuary with easy access to beaches and mountains of West Wales. Heated outdoor pool a bonus, new Indian restaurant/bar worth trying. Car essential.

Property (No9) was good and clean and we very much enjoyed our stay. However We were told there were only 5 small steps, but the steps were not small, there were eight large ones in total. (If we had both been unable to get up steps we would have found it impossible to check in or both of us to use the spa facilities as the main building has multiple steps which we were not told about).

The apartment we stayed in was enormous Two en suites one with a sauna. Even a down stairs toilet, brilliant views from the apartment. We would highly recommend the Macdonald plas.

Warm Welsh Welcome

Warm welcome on arrival from a very helpful and knowledgeable Sian. Our accommodation was great, very spacious, clean and well equipped with all the home comforts needed. The accomodation was set in beautiful lush countryside with rolling hills and mountains around it, all the fresh air and scenery you'd want for a peaceful break. The resort had an indoor and outdoor pool, as well as other facilities that were complimentary, but our stay was too short, so we didn't get to use them, we'll be back for the outdoor pool alone.

Good resort, bit dated property

The resort was good, we liked the huge estate and the rooms. The reception was not very welcoming. Tennis court condition was poor. Some toilets didn't have a hot& cold mixer tap and it was really difficult to flush the toilets! However the property location and surroundings were excellent! Loved the swimming pool and jacuzzi.

In need of updating throughout, bed needed changing as hadn’t been changed. Housekeeping came the following morning apologised and replaced all with new bedding. The whole apartment smelt damp and musty. Reception staff friendly and helpful. Bar expensive and bar toilets absolutely disgusting. Very expensive for what it is and certainly not up to standard, would not return or recommend.

The facilities seem rather run down compared to previous years. No Spa, a minimal Gym. Indoor and outdoor pools were OK, but the showers often didn't have hot water. It seems that Macdonald Hotels are not investing in the upkeep

Lovely staff, poor accommodation.

We stayed in a villa and the first thing we noticed was the overpowering smell of mould / damp. When we spoke to reception staff they were very understanding and moved us to another villa which although not as clean as I would have liked, didn’t smell of damp. We ordered food from the bar and I was looking for to some authentic Indian cuisine, but the curry I got tasted like it had came from a tin. The grounds are well kept and the area is lovely. The staff are also really nice and helpful and we did have a nice time. It’s just a shame that MacDonald Resorts expect paying guests to stay in damp accommodation. The buildings could really do with updating.

Views to die for....

I have read some of the reviews and sometimes wonder what people expect. We stayed in a two bedroom classic bungalow and was impressed with the space and fittings of our accommodation. There is some room for improvement if critical and is not really worth mentioning here. We did not use any of the facilities onsite but we received a warm welcome on arrival and were very accommodating. We could see the pool and had a look at the small gym both looked looked good. Did not see the steam room. Our focus was very much about the surrounding area, the views and waterfall..... We had a 3 night stay and would wished we had at least another two.

We had a pleasant stay but we were a bit surprised that we were staying in self-catering This wasn't made that obvious when booking but in all the place was nice andfriendly. It would have been nice if the apartment was warm before we got there as it took a good hour to get it up to a comfortable temperature. We also arrived at 6:00. The spa was not open which is a real shame as that's one of the main reasons for booking. It closes at 5:00. Be aware. . . The restaurant serves really nice food and the gentleman in charge of it is friendly and helpful. He even helped us get some milk and tea for the morning as we didn't have this in the room. Its very peacefull and quite and clean. Its self catering and shops are bit far so best take extra food and grocery. We stayed in bunglow and they got nice clean kitchen with all the cooking facilities. Rooms are nice but mattress are bit old.View from bunglows are lovely,I ll try to share image. Staff are friendly. All in all 5 stars. Price reflects.
