The check in & cleanliness were good. Unfortunately, we had bad timing with the smoke detectors malfunctioning. I know things happen, but did not realize that everything had to be communicated through the VRBO messaging center. It would have made life so much easier had we known since I had to go home for a family emergencies and my husband didn't have the access to my VRBO account and I was not able to check messages the one day so he had to sit for over 2 hours with all the firing alarms going off b/c the number listed in the owners notebook was not responding. He finally had to leave and go away for a few hours until it was fixed. Why leave a phone # then?The owner also should have let us know at the beginning that this is the only form of communication. There was also an issue, because of those family emergencies,I had to go home for . The owner questioned extra people coming to the house as well as our dog, who we were not brining initially. On the listing it says pet friendly, but not until you select the pet, in your initial booking does it show there is a charge for the pet. We had to pay this right away even though the dog went back home & only stayed 2 nights. This should be stated in the description of the listing that there is an extra charge for a pet. She was gracious enough not to charge us for 2 different people, even though there were no additional people per night that I initially put in for. We will not be staying next year at this location.
