Take a hike around the Lake on the 5+ miles of trails before cooling off in the pond while you gaze up at the stars. Sheep, Dwarf Fainting goats(next to silo 10' away), Chickens, Ducks, Bunnies, & Turkeys. The Barn/Silo is separate from our other 3 listings on the Property which surround the lake (Tugboat, Airstream, and Log Cabin). It is closest to the Sheep, Goats and animal fencing. Watch the goats play while you relax on the porch. Close to many wineries, breweries, small town shops. 30 Mins to Charlottesville, 45 Mins to Richmond, 25 Mins to Lake Anna, 20 Mins to Gordonsville. \*Please read entire listing\* Our goal is to provide a unique adventure for guests with all the conveniences of home. The Barn & Silo is surrounded by a lush forest on 3 sides and Farm Animals on the other. Outdoor Space: Your private swim pond is situated perfectly between the Barn deck and Silo Porch facing a seemingly endless forest. The fencing for the dwarf goats, sheep, and other farm animals is steps from the Silo Porch. The swim pond is perfect for cooling off on hot days, an evening swim under the stars, or just enjoying the view. The pond uses only natural filtration to stay clean, no chemicals. This amazing ecosystem attracts all kinds of frogs, tadpoles, hummingbirds, dragonflys, butterflies and other friends from nature. While it is a pond, it is separated from ground water so we are able to maintain clean clear water. The waterfall adds to the ambiance and privacy. On the patio there is a blackstone grill, and picnic table so you can dine while watching the farm animals on one side and the pond/waterfall on the other. At night sit under the twinkle lights roasting marshmallows by the firepit w/ grill top and Adirondack chairs. The deck and dock attached to the Barn has a sliding gate w/ lock and antique gate w/ latch to help keep kids and pets safe. Inside Space: Inside the Silo there is a fully stocked Kitchen with an electric cooktop, microwave, toaster oven, coffee pot, full size refrigerator w/ freezer, utensils and everything for your cooking needs. We provide coffee, tea, sugar, flour, condiments(ketchup, mustard, mayo) along with spices and cooking oils. There is a dining table in the main living area. The coffee table converts into a larger dining table to seat 6 (dining chairs are located under the stairs). There is a smart TV with ROKU, sound bar and DVD player with a few DVDs. We do have some family friendly games and books in the cabinet under the TV. The top floor of the Silo looks over the kitchen and features a king size bed. The ceiling is made from reclaimed barn wood with a stunning custom light fixture made from reclaimed roofing and mason jars. Make your way from the Silo through the hallway you will find a full bathroom with a stand up shower. Continue down the hallway past the bathroom and you will enter the barn room. The barn consists of 2 bedrooms, downstairs there is a king bed with views of the natural swimming pond and waterfall and upstairs there is a kids loft with two twin beds. To access the loft you will climb a secured ladder. After a restful sleep you can wake up and enjoy a cup of coffee on the deck right outside your room. The deck has high railings and gates w/ latches to help keep your kids and pups safe. The Outdoor space: The silo house is very well lit at night by twinkle lights (can be turned off) which makes for a very romantic setting. Enjoy your coffee or cocktails on the deck with waterfront views and farm animals. The decks are covered in case of rain with a picnic table for dining and several Adirondack chairs. The barn deck has 2 hammock swings that are perfect for relaxing in. We have provided a Blackstone grill to make outdoor cooking at the silo easier. There is also a large fire pit with a metal cooking grate for grilling and Adirondack chairs. The natural swimming pond is private and will only be used by the guests that rent this property. We also have some farm animals that are close by...sheep, ducks, chickens, and rabbits that you can meet and feed. You will most likely be greeted by our golden-doodle Mabel. She is extremely friendly but please do let us know if she's a bother. She enjoys meeting new guests and their furry companions and is wonderful with kids! We sell dry firewood or you can help yourself to any fallen wood that you can find. If you'd like to fish the lake, fishing is "Catch and Release". Please be aware that each listing on the lake has its own private dock. You're welcome to fish from the edge of the lake, pier with windmill, or island/bridge. Two yellow Kayaks are for your use at the pier. If you plan to spend lots of time on the lake then we ask you to book one of the properties that are on the lake for easier access and to maintain privacy for our other guests. The Lake is stocked with Crappie, Blue Gill, and Large Mouth Bass. Several 7lb+ Bass have been caught and released. There is never a lifeguard on duty! Please use life vests and supervise children. By booking with us you agree to use the lake, trails, and property at your and your guests own risk. Swimming, or any other water play is at your own risk. You are accepting responsibility of yourself and other guests when having full use of the property, trail hikes, biking, swimming...etc. Please use your best judgement when bringing children of all ages, if you are unsure about something please ask. We spent two nights sleeping on the lake in a tugboat. It was very spacious and had everything we needed for our family of five. A very unique experience that we will not soon forget. My favorite part was waking up to ducks, fish, and turtles floating outside your window. Stargazing and sleeping in the captain's cabin was unbelievable. The two nights spent in the silo were magical. The pool is unlike anything I have ever seen. The house is absolutely gorgeous but then you remember how amazing the backyard area is and how there are farm animals literally footsteps away from your front door, some may even stop over to say hello. We thoroughly enjoyed the property whether it was exploring the trails, paddle boarding, feeding the animals, hanging out at the farm store playing air hockey, or building a campfire on our very own island. A late night kayak trip around the lake was one of the spookiest but equally coolest experiences ever! The hosts are very kind people who go above and beyond to make sure you have an incredible vacation. Top notch security on site in the form of the sweetest dog ever, Mabel. She will steal your heart with her gentle spirit. The location is quite serene and the private pool is beautifully done! I wish I had gone at a warmer time to have been able to swim, but it was just as easy to simply enjoy the peaceful sound of the waterfall while relaxing on the porch hammocks that overlook the pool. Everything was clean and exactly like the pictures show. I loved the proximity of the barn yard neighbors and would enjoy their company while I ate my breakfast on the side porch. The property is fantastic! We had a blast swimming in the private natural pool everyday! Really appreciated the child life jackets available as well. The dock area can be gated to keep little ones off. The pool has a small waterfall, listening to the sound was relaxing. As if that wasn’t enough entertainment there is a fire pit and farm animals just a few steps away. The kids loved feeding the goats and sheep with food provided by the host Ashleigh. The beds are very comfortable and the inside is new and welcoming. Louisa is about 40 min to Charlottesville.
