Long Beach Historic Landmark: This Home is a fine example of Spanish Colonial Revival architecture, it was completed in 1929 just prior to the Great Depression. The architecture evokes the romance of the Mediterranean and of Spanish California during the housing boom of the prosperous 1920's. It's a great location - easy to get around by car or on foot.The unit is one of three in the building, which wasn't entirely clear in the listing. The other two units are apartments.The bathrooms and kitchen have been recently renovated and it's clear that the whole house has had a once-over, but it does look, feel, and smell like an old house. Nothing wrong with it - it doesn't smell bad, just to be clear - just old. Light sleepers should be aware that the floors are pretty but very, very creaky. Plan to bring your own toiletries as none were out for us. Parking is a little weird - you park halfway in the driveway, halfway in the street. This means that the longer your car, the more you risk either getting a ticket by blocking the sidewalk or getting hit by a passing car by being too far in the street. Again, not wrong, just weird.If you want an old, big house with a great location, this is a great choice. The house did not smell clean, house was dusty but on a positive note the kitchen and bathrooms were clean. I felt very uncomfortable feeling people could see thru the blinds in the upstairs bathroom. We had to leave the windows open to keep the house cool. The beds we’re comfortable. The people in the neighborhood were very nice. This would be a very nice house if the house felt cleaner and added some decorative things that would make the home feel welcoming. I could not sleep because it felt eerily. The house has a lot of potential. I did not get instructions until the day before and key lock code I received the day I arrived to Long Beach. Very clean and the flexible with check in. The location was walking distance to a Mexican restaurant and a short walk to the beach. Very quaint and charming home. Great location close to the beach, activities, and restaurants! The only con is that parking is EXTREMELY limited, especially at night.
