The hike in also passes by the Chattooga River at a very beautiful spot. All in all, the 5 mile round trip hike required to view Opossum Creek Falls is well worth it and highly recommended. To reach this point you have to climb 400 steps to the bottom of the gorge, cross the river (not easy) and hike about a half mile. It's a rugged hike over boulders and rock faces.
